R50/53 Need to vent...
Need to vent...
Here's a re-cap of the last few days.
Don't you just love Florida weather?
Yea, every 2 days I have to go through an obstacle course to get to my house.

Hmm, what's next?
Come out to my car the other day to this.

Great. A scratch.
Lovely.
Moving on.
Well, the last couple days my car decides it would be nice to just randomly shut off on me WHILE DRIVING for a split second then come back on.
Yea, funny.
So I stop by Autozone to find that my stock battery's life is over.
Ok, knowing that eventually (using that term loosely) I'm going to upgrade to some 2400's or Powermaster D3100's for the amps, I don't see the need to buy a brand new, or expensive battery. So I trade my bad battery and get a used one for 20 dollars. It's guaranteed for 9 months, so if it dies, ill be getting another one. No issue there.
Prior to getting this new battery, my car now decides that since yesterday, it's going to be sluggish and hesitate to start when I tell it to.

I figure it's just the bad battery.
I proceed to get my new battery.
Hook it up, try to start it, thinking it would start fine...
I hoped for too much.
Acted the same as with the dead battery in it did.
Still haven't figured this one out. Might be the starter, spark plugs, who knows? With my good luck lately, I'm hoping I'll just get to buy a whole new engine!
Does it stop there?
Why stop when I can keep having fun?
Remember a month or 2 ago, when the Pepsi truck cut me off the road and I hit a curb going about 50?
I just noticed my headlight housing is cracked to hell. I put 2 and 2 together, and the only way this could have POSSIBLY happened, was from the impact from the curb.

THANKS PEPSI, CAN I AT LEAST GET A FREE SODA OUT OF THE DEAL???
With that being said, I'm ready to just give up, but I'm not...Just needed to vent...Hopefully the problem its having starting won't be major, but again, knowing my luck, it will be.

I hate to break it to you but the scratch and the broken headlight look like vandalism to me..
There's no way that running into a curb should crack your headlight, unless it was a very big curb.
The scratch looks intentional and not so much road debris.
As for the engine stopping and restarting that would not be a battery.
A battery would show other signs like dimming lights and sluggish acceleration.
You appear to have a different problem here and don't take the advise of the parts store.. they will continue selling you parts until you replace them all.
Go have MINI run a diagnostic test to tell you whats going wrong with the electrical system.

i dont know...theres a tiny gash in it, i had to have run over something on the interstate that gashed it, and the air leaked straight out in a matter of seconds, becuase when i tried to put air back in, it leaked out instantly.
yup...i was on I4 heading south, when it switched to I275 (right around downtown-ish) is when i noticed it.

the company i got my rims and tires from is sending me a free replacement, i have to call them today on break at work.

First, you have my sympathy for your run of strange and unfortunate happenings.
Could wet electrics (due to the high water you may have recently experienced) be one of the problems? Maybe causing a short or something?

Ok, my guess on the electrical behavior is a faulty ignition switch. Not the key cylinder, but the electrical part that the cylinder actuates. Happens in BMW's occasionally and the symptoms are very similiar....strange electrical behavior. Check it out.
