R50/53 Am I getting bent out of shape over nothing???
What do u mean by order? everyone has a different definition for that... when u say order do u mean telling them that u want a car and put down a deposit? or do u mean they actually asked u to spec out a car and they were going to submit it out to get your car built? Cuz from my understanding NorthWest MINI has one of the longest wait for a MINI so unless u have been with contact with them for the past 1.5 year and waiting to order a MINI...
By "order" I mean I test drove the car, put down a deposit, and I decided on all the specs. My MA told me I should take delivery 4-6 months from that day for a MC and up to 19 months for a MCS. From what I understand, my number should be coming up pretty quick...at least I hope so.
yikes, that's a really long wait!
Call you MA Tuesday and ask what your production status is, either that or find a dealership that has no/little wait for the Cooper and be willing to travel a bit.
Good luck,
Ryan

Speedracer,
You're getting fed a bucket of BS. Your dealer is oversold on production, and isn't telling you which month's production he's selling you.
Check your Messages now for a PM I just sent you. My advice is look elsewhere. Where is in my PM

Thanks a lot for the second opinions. Kinda confirms my suspicions and proves that I'm not crazy. I might just have to go with another dealer after all.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

Hmmm, when I placed my order at the dealer and gave my $500 deposit he gave me a 7-digit production number that same day. He said to wait a day or two before checking the MINIUSA website, which I did and my order was there to track.

I agree with Chief_Charlie on this....and if that's the case then you might not even get a production # til that month's dealer allocation comes up for production. Its a very long wait!
Around here(...D/FW area), dealer allocations of MINIs seem to be already spoken for/sold months in advance I might order a MINI today, but if its for November's dealer allocation, I might not get a production # for some time. Funny thing is that sales are so good here that a truck comes in full of MINIs and they're gone as soon as their owners can come pick them up. As a consequence, the lot is usually empty. Its quite a weird sight for an auto dealership.

This same exact thing happened to me when I ordered a G35. The dealership didn't tell me what a tiny allocation they had and assured me they'd be ordering at the next available date. They called me an entire month after that to tell me it hadn't been ordered because I was too far down on the list - oops!
The good part of all the mess they put me through was I ended up test driving the Mini and falling in love with it.
Not wanting to go through that fiasco again, I found a MINI already in production that had almost exactly the specs I wanted.
Midwestern Mini has been pretty good to me so far, and Mini of the Hamptons has tons already in stock - shop around!!!

Just adding to the you are not crazy and go elsewhere messages. I put down my deposit and gave specs to Bill Jacobs in Chicagoland on about July 5th. The MA said it would be about 8 weeks. I got a production number within several weeks and it has cleared the distribution center in NYC as should be at the dealer's early next week: right on schedule. I agree, ditch that dealer. Good luck, too, in better treatment and eventually enjoying your own Mini.
Wow i t sounds like your getting a bum rap. I would recommend checking out of that dealership and if I may recommend Classic Mini of Ohio. Especially Julie Saxo. She will be straight up with you and get you int a car as soon as possible. Personally I called her and asked if she had any MCS available on 8/14. She said yes Sept. production and I made the deposit. My production date is 9/26
My complete transaction has been over the internet, and phone. no worries at all.
