MPG won't display

When scrolling thru the events on the tach I noticed that the Avg mpg has been diplaying 99.9 for 2 weeks now. All the other display's are operating normally. Anyone know why?

Also does anyone else have a severe engine drop off when the A/C is on? I know some power loss will occur, but the amount I have seems secessive.

Im not sure about your MPG display issue. Whether the power loss that occurs when you turn on the AC is 'excessive' is subjective, so to some it may not seem to bad and to others it may seem severe. Since we are dealing with a 4 banger the power loss is pretty significant, IMO. I never use the AC for that reason alone.

99.9 MPG?! What is your secret?

There might be a problem with the sensor that reads how much gas passes into the engine. So your range and fuel dial still work though?

The power loss with a/c can be severe if you run it full blast. I always have it set at 1-3 bars, if any.

Do you ever reset the average MPG?

I could imagine if you went on long enough without resetting it, you could overflow the math involved which would not make it happy.

No, is that something I should be doing? If so, how do I reset it?

When it wa soperating correctly the mileage displayed was 31.3mph, is that accurate and is 31.3 typical for an 05 R50 with 79k miles on it?

To reset hold the the button on the turn signal stalk down for a few seconds once you have the Avge MPG displayed.

Did that solve it? I have vague recollections of hearing of this before.

If you don't reset the MPG, you'll see the MPG since forever, which may or may not be useful to know. If you do reset it, it'll tell you the MPG since the last reset. I reset it every tank.

On the other hand Quentin did seem to give me very strange readings once when I reset it between fillups. I never worked out exactly what, but I only ever reset it when I filled up, and reset the trip odometer at the same time, and it seemed to behave itself.

Just cut the roof off your car and then you won't need the AC, some of us have done it already.
