jceviche, I see from another post that you bought your MCS in FL to alleviate a 3 month wait. Since this sort of shopping around to non-local dealers (although your choice may be a bit extreme ) is something I'm constantly recommending to people carping about the wait and expense, I'm wondering if you wouldn't mind saying whether you paid over MSRP or by how much.

Sounds like a fun trip but I live in New England, so I doubt you'll be passing through my area. Maybe some MINI owners from FL, the gulf coast, TX, NM, or AZ will join you for at least a few legs of the trip.

jsun, I paid MSRP plus dealers add on package of $1585 that includes paint and upholstery protection, pin stripes and carpets minus discount of $1000 offered by the dealer plus the usual fees associated on sale of a new car. The bottom line I paid MSRP plus $585. To transport the car back to SoCal it would cost me around $600 for plane tickets for two persons and whatever food expense for two days while on the road.

A 2 day drive from FL to SoCali?! How fast are you driving?! It took me 2 full 10-hr driving days to drive from Colorado to Alabama...and it takes about a day and a half from Colorado to SoCal...but then again, I'm going across the center of the country vs. just driving along I-10 there...maybe...2 days just seems a bit optimistic. But that's what motoring is all about - have a great time!!!!

Now, a MINI on Route 66 (with appropriate diversions onto I-40): there's a cross-country trip that would be memorable, especially with a stop to chat with General Bob at the Bagdad Cafe (he just might claim to have given the idea for the original Mini to John Cooper!).

We took off from West Palm Beach Braman Motor Cars at 2:00PM Monday Sept 9 arrived in San Diego At 10:30 AM on Sept 11 almost forty eight hours from the time we departed Florida. We drove continuously alternating between two drivers total dring time forty two hours. Along the way two hours nap time in Texas and a four hours sleep time in Las Cruses. Total 2710 miles average MPG 32. Over all it was a fun drive and worth the trip to pick up a good deal MCS. I only saw one Silver MINI in Dallas.

Wow! Congratulations on your new MCS. Incredible, you broke in the engine in less than 48 hours.....you hold the world record!

Question....did you inquire about your MINI purchase at Lauderdale MINI in Ft, Lauderdale? These folks sells MINIs at strict MSRP with no mandatory add ons, unlike the Braman/South Motors operations in Miami and Palm Beach.

Best of luck and enjoy your new car.

I did my shopping in Yahoo and the only Dark Silver black top MCS available accross the Nation at a very reasonable price are located at Braman Motorcars. I could not complain on $24,885 for an MCS with premium pkg, sport pkg, cold weather pkg with MSRP is $24,300. So it cost me $585 for not willing to wait 3 to 8 months.

Cooper4us, I sent email and made phone calls to other MINI dealership in Florida I did not get any reply from any of them except Braman Motorcars who returned my call in ten minutes.
