they are sick, but im sure you could import them at a pretty hefty price. Otherwise id just get some similar seats and fab up some brackets and throw em in

It's because MINI has decided that all U.S.-spec MINIs will have integral airbags in the seats, and those gorgeous Euro-spec seats don't have them, so they're not an option.

As for installing them post-purchase, I think there are legal issues with removing/disabling factory-installed airbags, so dealers are probably wary (or aren't allowed) to order the Euro-spec seats.

Those actually look like the Sparco Milano. The JCW seat is a Sportster CS..

I thought they looked very much like Recaro Speed's, but there's no logo.

No legal issues regarding disabling an air bag. There's a form you can fill out to have them disabled. The air bag opt out started after people that had to sit very close to the wheel were getting injured.
Your insurance man may be interested though.

So how do you put in an aftermarket seat and NOT throw an airbag light?

I "think" it will throw the airbag light... i'll have to take her to my dealership after I have the seats put in and have them reset the system (or disable that sensor/light)????

I was going to say, your insurance company may be interested to know that you're disabling safety equipment. Especially after your passenger is turned into a vegetable in a collision because of something you did.

We live in a very litigious country. I wouldn't do anything that opened myself up to more liability than I already have just walking down the street...

I suppose you could pull the sensors from a set of seats and plug those in to keep them happy.

I'm going to do a rear seat delete anyway, so I won't have veggie issues.

Look, we have mini coopers, they are super small anyway!! I live in Colorado where at least 50% of the people drive around huge suv's... I think whether or not I have a side airbag is irrelevant... If I get hit by a huge suv, a side airbag isn't going to protect me!!

I agree, the bottom feeders (lawyers) ruining auto industry and now even SEMA upgrades in America.

After installing the new seat, just put a disclaimer decal on the visor warning passengers that the "a-bag been removed, passengers travel at own risk".....

I found this thread while looking for information about replacing my drivers side seat. There is a wear spot on it and I'm thinking about getting it re-upholstered or replaced. I do want to keep the air bags, but would prefer something a little more colorful than the black leatherette I have now. Does anyone out there have any ideas that might help? I doubt that I could fit into anything Euro since I'm 6'2" and 245#.
