What by too much do you mean?
If it's price then I think I disagree. If you look at say a Honda Civic Si... 19K 165 HP. My personal opinion..... the mini has BMW to back it up also has a history of 35 years. Granted it's new and there may be some bugs but I think it looks very well engineered. Also the car comes standard with very nice features (not found on some higher priced cars) and optioned out it's still around 23k. That is with nav, heated seats, HID lamps, etc. To me it seems like a deal.
If price wise it's a little high for you at the moment..... wait. You'd be better off getting a beater and saving your money for the day when it's more comfortable.
Just my opinion.... One that I wish I had used when I bought my first car.

A fully loaded Mini S runs for 24,900. That includes GPS Nav system, Auto-temp air, Xenon Headlamps, Sun-roof, 17" rims, and a suspension no car in its class can touch. I feel for the appointments of a 3-series BMW, strong engine and great interior space for the front passengers, 24,900 is a bargain in my mind. Plus, the car has personality. Most others in this class are boring stylistically.

You guys get me pumped!!! My only challenge is how I am going to be able to get into 2 Cooper S's. One for my wife and one for me. They are definitely the hottest toys on the market right now, and in the mind of a Mini enthusiast they always will be. DWDave, you are absolutely right about personality. The Mini copies no-one and is in class all by itself. The Mini practically has it's own culture. I'm starting to sound a little too enthusiastic now.

All the best,
MudBone

mudbone,
You must have some mud in your head to pay those premium prices.
In 8 months they will be giving them away.

The dealers are inflating the prices "Way out of line." Hold your ground and "Don't but until the price get to $16,000.

I built my MINI online, but I don't know much about dealerships...Are they really going to sell me a MINI at that price? wo dealerships in my area are ONLY selling MINIs with "package' optioons, You have to buy the MINI at base + $2500 at least.

I don't mind adding to it - but only the options I want.

what do you think?

The odds are your going to be put on a waiting list.
If so then Tell them what you want and ask them to order it that way.
If they refuse to order it the way you like then ask for the BMWUSA customer relations phone #. I'm sure BMW would like to here about a dealer insisting on gouging prices when they've publicly stated that they are fully against it. It may take a while but I would bet that you'd get your car the way you want it.
Worth a shot anyway.

I was told by my local dealership that if I want one for July 03, I need to put my name on the list by this July to guarantee getting the model and options I want. The product of 10,000 units coming to the USA I guess.

The dealership by me is not inflating the prices one bit. I will not pay an inflated price and that practice pisses me off. I hope my dealership stays the course with that issue, otherwise I will wait rateher than pay extra.

Got my chili red yesterday! #4 off the lot. No mark up - looks like this dealer will be adding a lot of options to the car and manke more $$ that way. Looking to trade out my white std wheels - they would not swap out. Also I had to get the multi disc CD player which I will sell below below their $895. cost - let me know if any serious interest / I am in SF Bay Area! I have managed to scrape the plastic under the car on a driveway w/ in a few hours - warning! Great fun to drive!!!
