The MINI Mobility Kit Really Works

I had never gotten a flat tire in 14 years of driving, but was a little nervous carrying only sealant when I switched to conventional summer tires on my S. But, today I got the first flat and had to use the kit... It worked well and I made the slow 90-mile drive home without losing any air!

So, for those of you afraid to ditch the run-flats, here's another reason why you should Not to mention the MUCH better ride and handling.

So what size tyres did you go for? still on the 17 inch S lites or did you go 16 inch to increase sidewall height?

I am thinking of ditching the runflats for better ride quality, i would like to keep the same rims but realize making a larger sidewall would improve things better.

Cheers. peter

I kept the 17s becuase I think the car looks far better with them. I have Dunlop Sport Maxx tires and the ride on the 17" tire is better than the ride on my 16" Dunlop Wintersport M3 run-flats.

So I would argue that the switch to conventional 17" tires improves the ride more than a switch to 16" runflats.

I kept my 17" but ditched the run flats for Falken FK452 but upsized slightly to 215/45 and was amazed
* MUCH less tendancy for wheel spin (the unintentional kind)
* MUCH better ride over very rough surface streets (that used to make CD's skip)
* MUCH better handling
* MUCH better rim protection for the wheels
* No scraping or rubbing issues at all (still at stock height & keeping it there!

Wished I'd done it sooner

I just bought a can of tire sealent -- not sure how it differs from the Mini Mobility kit, though.

As soon as my run flats got erased in autocrossing, I bought a Slime/compressor kit, and a set of Hankook Ventus RS2 215-45/17.

HUGE ride and handling difference.

I am eying those tires, how are they working for you? Worth it you think?

I carry a can of fix a flat sometimes, but it isnt supposed to be exposed temps over 125 degrees, and the inside of my car gets hotter than that. Because of this I rarely bring it with me.

The tires work pretty good. I haven't tested them in the rain but so far dry traction seems comparable to the RT-615's.

I gotta pickup the slime/compressor package. Thanks for the tip!

I'm a recent (today) converter to 16" rims and standard 205/50 R16 pzeros.
The right quality is night and day. I am no longer afraid of the pot holes here in Queens NY. Just rev up and take those bad bumps (cant avoid em!).

Just check my gallery uploaded updated photos I happen to feel the 16's look much better than oem. But again thats cuz i'm biased!
