Now Ive been through 2 sets of valve caps.
The first set over 2 weeks worked their way off (stock metal)
Now either they fell off or some kid took 1 at a time off at the train station.
Then I bought some Mini ones and after 1 day they are gone. (stolen i think but dont know)
Hasnt anyone had this problem with them coming off?????

Mike

There's been a few threads on "disappearing" valve caps. It's a phenomena that has struck other MINI owners....especially those with the fancy ones. It's a pain in the butt, but I'd rather come out to find my car with the caps missing than find my caps with the car missing.

Valve cap theft is unfortunately common, although why I don't know. (Who collects valve caps??) Get some cheap plastic caps for everyday use, and some flashy show caps for MINI events. That way you'll be able to "slum it" when necessary and still look good for the academy awards reception.

So far I have been lucky with the standard metal caps on my MCS. My truck over the years had been a different story. I had nice chrome stems and caps on my Weld rims, and they tended to disappear in certain parking areas. It was most likely kids wanting them for their bicycles. I went so far as to use a wrench to tighten them on and they still walked.

Do as others have suggested - simply use plain black plastic ones when you are parking in day-to-day driving situations, and put your MINI caps on when you are showin' off da goods.

And look at the bicycles in your neighborhood. See which of them have MINI caps!

I'm mailing in my valve caps to MINI as a protest!

I highly recommend this solution. I went through three sets. After installing these I came out in the morning to find a little kids fingerprints all over my left front wheel - but I still had a valve cap.

And here I thought for sure you were going to recommend
this solution.

The little brats even take those off the curbside tires.
I bought these and I still have the original set.
They are really cool.
