R50/53 Do I really need the aero kit on my MCS??

I just got the grill and am satisfied. If you mostly like the side skirts just get them. My $.02

I think the aero kit might only lower the drag coefficient from 0.37 to 0.36
The GP kit lowers it from 0.39 to 0.35
I do not know why there are different numbers.
Anyone with an engineering degree want to comment?

I am actually contemplating the same thing for my astro black. You certainly don't need it, but I personally don't think I can do just part of it.
Also, it won't be $1,500 unless you get them used somewhere. Prices here locally would be just under $2,500 for materials, painting, and labor to install.

I like the aerokit in the R53 era MINIs. I do not care for it in the second gen MINIs (Its OK but doesn't have the jaw dropping effect of the kit in the 1st gen cars). I might get it add to my car in the future, but then again I might not. I like to keep my cars stock as this makes the car more appealing from an OEM original point of view. I also like my factory exterior chrome grille, and I would have to give that up if I decide to install the R53 aerokit. You don't really need it. More a matter of cosmetics and the kind of look you are going after.

They make a chrome aerokit grille. My buddy just ordered the aero grille (Black) and they sent him this one by accident.
Morristown MINI is selling the kits for $850 w/ $250 shipping (primed). $1100 isn't bad. Back in December they actually had them listed for $450 (it was something in the 4 hundreds)... Unfortunately, I couldn't jump on it back then...

I bought the aero kit side skirts because I love the look and in part because I thought the kits may be discontinued in the future with the introduction of the R56's.
IMO, the rear bumper cover isn't all that significant of an upgrade. The front bumper cover looks aggressive compared to stock--but there are other options. I went with a Strassentech front lip on my stock bumper with the aero kit grills. It's less common than a MINI with a full aerokit.

I haven't seen the chrome aero grille before, nor can I find it on realoem.com...
In a way I kind of like it. One thing I was somewhat torn on when installing my aero kit was the removal of the factory grille. If I had this chrome grille, I'd take the honeycomb section and paint it black or maybe body color...
Anyone else know more about these aero kit chrome grilles?

Isn't the chrome grill just a stick on piece? I have been all over as I have the sideskirts and wasn't sure about the front bumper (hate the rear and won't do it).
Here is what I am thinking about so tell me what you think. Since i like the stock grill chrome, but also like the black color grill too. I am going to order the MINI One black grill, upper and lower, and intergrate that with the aero front bumper. That way I have the slats (which I prefer), and chrome, but get to have black to break up the white front some. I am also getting the black fog surrounds to complete the look.
Other wise I would do the aero grill with the edges painted body color.
