I was just wondering if anyone knew how to reset the oil change measurement on the Mini? I have an 04 Mini and I want to perform my own oil change.

Thanks.

dude, you need to learn to use the (admittedly kludgey) search function! It takes a little practice, but it's worth the time investment.

Man, you gotta get the thesaurus out to use the search. Like the yellow pages. It's not clothing, it's apparel

Thanks for the link. Here is another that appears to have been in the wrong place, but seems to apply:

for better searching, use Google - Advanced Search, and restrict the search to this website (using the domain www.northamericanmotoring.com)...

someone pointed that out to me last week and I'm still grinning at the effectiveness of that approach...

yeah, I forgot about that one, and I tell people I'm a Google master.
The embarrasing thing is that I use that method all the time. That'll teach me to post when I'm half asleep.

No idea B0rkman. I guess you figured it out or just got disgusted with the response. I'm thinking I'll find it in the Bently Manual or email Randy in Denver. Heck, then I can learn how to reset it in a Lotus too!

Oh. . . I see you are still in neutral and just have one post. Well, Welcome to NAM.

I thought the boards were for sharing experiences and having a community as well as collecting useful information.

Kill the new guy
Just shoot me, I apologize for my ignorance, I guess no one on this forum has ever been new to anything. Must be nice to be omniscient!

Ah, his question wasn't answered . . . but having just changed the oil I'll be searching for the procedure. I've seen it here on NAM . . . and am sure to come across it momentarily . . . although this thread pulled up with the search terms oil reset and there is no answer here, only questions.

Dude! If you click on the link in my first post:

It takes you directly to the procedure for resetting. I wasn't beating him up; I was offering both the answer and some advice. Look before you leap.

I've tried to reset "oil service" 6 times - but without succes!
Instead of 15A on the screen was written 51A.
What happens?

Maybe a misprint on the link. Try this:

RE:reset service reminder
Try this:
1. Push the Trip Button
2. Turn ignition key to position 1 and 51A will appear to left of mileage
3. Release trip button
4. Wait 3 seconds
5. Push trip button
6. Wait (5-8 seconds) for RST to appear in left corner
7. Release trip button
8. Push trip button
9. 15000 will appear as new service interval
10. Release trip button
