R50/53 why spend thousands more on an MCS, when you can own.....

Sounds silly doesn't it?
Can we put this issue to bed once and for all? Different Mini's for different folks, right?
Reading these posts just makes me irritated. We all love this car. We all love the soul of it and how it makes us feel when we drive it. So....if you need a little more h.p. to get that feeling in your bones....GREAT! Go for the MCS!!!
Please remember that a very large group of Mini owners happens to exist who do not feel the need for an extra 38 horses under our bonnets. We might never take our Mini's on the track. This group of folks never indulge in negative comments about the 'S'.
We are a family, like it or not.
Let's keep a keen perspective of life as a Mini owner.
EVERY SINGLE MINI ON THE ROADS, WETHER IT BE... MC, MCS, STOCK OR LOADED....IS THE SINGLE MOST ATTRACTIVE AUTO ON THE ROAD TO DATE.
QUITE POSSIBLY THE MOST FUN CAR ON THE HIGHWAYS.
AND...WE OWN ONE OR ARE ABOUT TO TAKE DELIVERY OF ONE.
IT DOES NOT GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT
Let's Motor, Together!!!

Amen to that! You really said it all there. Nothing more to add!
Kind of on the same note, all us Hawaii MINI motorers have been flashing the Hang Loose hand signal as we pass each other on the roads. Have others been greeting other MINI drivers in a similar manner? After all, we ARE one big family!

It would be nice, sure... The reason it won't happen is that the number of members of this forum will continue to multiply, and the new members are not going to go back and read through the hundreds of topics that have accumulated. The Cooper vs Cooper S debate is something that just about everyone probably thinks about when they're going through the shopping/purchasing process, and unfortunately every time someone brings it up on this site, the response is going to be significant, and some people (I've certainly been guilty of it) are going to get carried away. Sure it's frustrating for people who have been members all along to see the same debates flare up over and over again, but I think it goes along with the exploding popularity of this car that we all love.
The number of posts on this topic that actually cross the line into the realm of personal insults and pointless noise is fairly low, so why not just sit back and watch it go by?

Anyone who thinks that the S is truly the better mini-cooper i think really need to read this topic! The fact is that their really isn't that much difference between an MCS and an MC is the what is said above. All the snobby people who think that there s is better the regular mc is being a pompus idiot!

Well, Nolan, since you love numbers and percentages so much maybe you should look closer at this one.
The MCS with 48 more hp has 41% more horsepower than a MC.
THe MCS with 175 lbs extra weight weighs somewhere around 7% more than a MC.
Good one, Nolan. 175 lbs is a thin or short guy. Big deal.

So thats how you get to the 5% faster performance...you divide the 41% by the 7%...thats cool...I could saved all that time with the 1 second difference in the 1/4 mile...lol!
