Question to 2003 MINI S manual owners!

Hi, I've been driving 03 Mini S manual for 6 month now.
I keep getting this feeling that the clutch for Mini S is pretty heavy, compare to my previous car (rsx-s).
Is this only my thought? or it is the way it has to be.
Thank you

sometimes I use both feet on the clutch, I thought that just the way it was. whenever I drive the truck at work, as soon as I get in i'm like "crap! the clutch is totally gone!" but it never is, I'm just used to a realllllyyyyy heavy clutch now.

It might be heavier than some... but it isn't really all that heavy overall. You should try the heavy duty clutch that's installed in my Mustang. You'd be able to skip working out your left leg at the gym if you drove it every day.

i also keep a boot on a stick in the car so i can take a little strain off my legs by doing most of the work with my arms.

it takes a minute to get used to, and it makes driving in traffic a true workout, but it also makes driving spirited very pleasant.

haha you're right. I never tried the heavy duty clutch before, I just tried some light tiny *** japanese cars. and maybe that's why I feel clutch for mini s is heavy.

hey, you got the point right there. There isnt certain policy that we hav to push the clutch with legs. good I'm doing it with my arms starting tomorrow

How do you like the car compared to the RSX-S?
I have an RSX-S and I'm planning to sell it for a MCS and I'm wondering both compares? Especially in the twisties...

You think the Mini clutch is heavy, try out my first car: a 1985 VW Cabriolet Wolfsburg Edition. I didnt know it at the time but that clutch made every single other seem like im stepping on cake. Now the reason for this is it was mechanical, and pretty much all modern cars nowadays have a hydraulic system. Smoother, easier, NICER! Still miss my cabrio though... what a fun car.

having grown up with mechanical clutches found on American iron (pickups, muscle cars, etc.) just about any hydraulic clutch is nice and light. I've never noticed that my 2003 MCS had a particularly heavy clutch, however in comparison with many non-performance euro-japanese econo-boxes, you may have a point.

the clutch is indeed quite heavier than your old honda. but
after you feel my 04 G35C's clutch, you would think the MCS's clutch
is pretty light.

ive also mentioned this many times, but the MINI's clutch pedal is
physically too low to the floor. you have to literally push forward, not
step forward to clutch-in. ive gotten use to it after 6yrs, but it would've
been better if it was off the floor higher. im not talking about the
engagment point.
