What are your favorites motoring tunes. You know the ones that you play when you are square in the motoring zone, not the ones that get you through the traffic jam on the way to the job.

My choices:

409, Beach Boys
Little Deuce Coupe, Beach Boys
Can't Drive 55, Sammy Hagar
Drive, Cars
Viva Las Vegas, Elvis P.
American Pie, Don McLean

When I say the name of the band I know you will think of their popular stuff, but they had some of the best PROG Rock music on their first album.

THE BEE GEES
Album - First
Play the song, "Red Chair Fade Away" one of the coolest psychedelic moody but with a sort of James Brown beat in it.

Viva Las Vegas is cool.

Mostly I listen to Yes, King Crimson (as many of us talked about)
and ZAPPA - The best gutarist on planet earth (was that is)..

Zappa album of the week - The Mothers Of prevention where he and John Denver took on Al Gore regarding censorship back in 1985. Strangely most reciently Al Gore flocked to anti-censorship..
But the other tracks are worth a listen too.

>>I Love L.A., Randy Newman

Ahh. the song that nobody outside LA can stand, but for some reason, everyone thinks that everyone should like it... (geesh, I can't tell you how many times i've heard that gosh darn song! I don't love LA, i don't live in LA, and i dont care if Randy Newman does either! )

Herb Albert (almost anything)
Pizzicato Five- Almost anything again, but definatally Playboy Playgirl

(geesh, I've got 0ver 50 cd's full of driving music, i'm wracking my brain here to chop down the list!)

Ayumi Hamasaki - Evolution
Gotta throw some Blue Man Group in there.. humm... how about What Is Rock

Awww, i'm just going to punch out now, I'll be here all day and everyone will think i'm just making half of it up...

But stick in some Herb Albert and see what kind of big stupid grin you get...

Five best albums to play while motoring:

Coldplay - Parachutes

John Mayer - Room for Squares

Linkin Park - Reanimation

No Doubt - Rock Steady

and anything Jack Johnson

Not necessarily in that order...

Right now...

Thievery Corp.
U2 (older stuff)
Depeche Mode
The Who
and some industrial artists - Abcess, Wumpscut, Laether Strip

Other times might be Phillip Glasss, some soundtracks. Whatever. Depends on time of day...

I couldn't possibly narrow it down to songs, so you'll get a band list instead:

Talking Heads
The Beatles(or solo John/George or Band on the Run)
Radio Head
The Postal Service
Pinback
The Kinks
The Velet Underground
The Ramones
The Clash

anything I can sing my little heart out to

What about The Little Guy tune. I ripped the audio off a commercial for the new MINI that was in quicktime. I think the commercial was done by MINI of Canada.

Anything by the Doors.

The kind of music you can never get sick of, and there are very few situations in this life that the image of Jim Morrison in leather pants can't rectify.

The Cure Disintegration album - For driving in rainy days and under dull skies

The Cure Wish album - For mood swing road trips

Modest Mouse - For those strange road trips in strange areas with strange people

Coldplay - For the late night lonely drives

Lou Reed's "Perfect Day" - For those quiet late night recovery drives

JawBreaker Dear You album - During those just wanna scream but I'll be mellow drives.

4 Strings or Requiem For a Dream remix soundtrack - Heading to the groove spot drive or when taking the blue pill

Radiohead Pablo Honey album - Long. drowning, depressed drives

Radiohead Paranoid Android album - well for the red pill drives, and those odd nights out.

Radiohead Kid A - Where the hell are we drives

Anything by the Beatles - For the sing along, I think we missed the exit drives

Ladytron - because my friend has hijacked the sound system drives

Pixies - Where is my mind drive

Depeche Mode - For the wanna be IDM EBM drives but not really in the mood yet.

Various IDM EBM Eclash stuff - For dark setting whatevah drives

Well thats the short list for now, but in reality everything I listen to is an excuse to go motoring. Music sometimes sounds a little better in motion.
