This forum is not a place for bragging about speeds. Per the NAM Site Guidelines:
5. LEGAL
Posts relating to street racing, excessive speeding, or violations of other laws are prohibited. If you want to race, take it to a legal venue.
If posts appear even hinting at blatantly illegal and highly irresponsible behavior, this thread will be locked. Take it to the track.

Top speeds have nothing to do with bravery.
Maybe this thread should read 'How stupid are you?'

I thought we agreed to let NAM Police itself when it came to this stuff? That was my impression given Mark's comments in the "What's wrong with NAM" thread...

It's actually more a function of drag and power. Speeding on a 20 mile long stretch of empty straight highway isn't something I would consider "High Risk" .

Go to a closed track.

Take your MINI of choice and try to set a new lap record or as close to it as you can.

Fast does not impress me much. Top speed is limited largely by aerodynamics and relatively limited by engine power for most of us.

Go to your local autocross and do your best against all drivers and see how high you can finish in your class or overall.

Discussion of speeds in illegal street racing is not appropriate on NAM.

Tell it to the judge
This type of post does nothing but encourage the impressionable kids on this site to do the wrong thing.
Stating top speeds also impresses nobody with any knowledge of performance.
As minihune & Edge stated get on a track or strip & prove what you can do.
Bragging about speeds on public roads is irresponsible & childish.

With all the damned deer in the northeast, I'm definitely not brave enough to drive my MINI at its top speed. Not to mention the police issues. ;-)

Bragging is when you post about it for no reason, the OP asked. If I wanted to brag I'd have made the post myself. I do track my car, I also drive aggressively on the street, I've never put anyone in any danger, and personally, I'd much rather be doing 150 down a long stretch of flat highway for 45 seconds than 125 around a hairpin turn at the track over and over and over and over and over again, lot more chance for error with repetition.

Kids are impressioned by plenty of things already, if someone has parented their kids so horribly that they read about someone driving at 140+ on a car forum and steal their car to go do it themselves, that's definitely not my fault .

No, in the old days, you'd have been slapped hard with an infraction, without anything to say about it.

Thank you for proving my point. We aren't quite the hardasses that we used to be, but that doesn't mean you can simply ignore the site guidelines, especially when I specifically asked you not to do what you did. The guidelines are still there, and yes, they still apply.
