Hi,

I was wondering who else is keeping the fact that they are buying a mini secret from friends of family members, and if so how are you planning on surprising them?

I'm keeping my MCS a secret from my two daughters 14 & 16, and I plan to just turn up outside the house (or maybe swim practice depending on what day I get it) and start honking the horn. They are gonna FREAK when they see it's me!

I have not ordered one yet and will not even be able to put a deposit down for almost a year and I already talk about it too much. I think my roommates are going to kill me.

Pebble - sounds like a fun idea. I would have trouble keeping my mouth shut though, but the payoff will be worth it.
Good Luck!

As I stated in another thread, MY side of the family (which I don't see more than once a month) doesn't know about my MINI obsession and my brother & uncle are big fans of the car. I hope to surprise them in October at a family gathering.

Although my 10yr old son is also MINI obsessed with me, I won't tell him the day I pick the car up. So I plan on surprising him when I pick him up from school!!!

I've told everyone i could tell about my obsession! LMAO

My mother thinks it's an ugly car....
my sister didn't like it at first, but now she likes it
my step father likes them (but nowhere near the obsession i've grown to)
My grandmother doesn't think i should get them
My father (who i only see Once a year) loves it and can't wait when i get mine because i told him i'm going to motor to see him after i get it!
2 of my best friends.... one i haven't seen for about 4 months.... the other i haven't seen for about 2 years....... they are both up at school one in gainesville and the other in tallahassee.... i told them i'm going to motor up to see them when i get Samantha..... and they're excited about it too! LMAO but NOBODY is as excited as i am!!

Everyone knows I'm getting one. Colours and everything.
I think everyone I've told about it has been positive about it. The fact that I can show them what an original Mini looks like with the one hanging around my neck shows my enthusiasm, I think.

Yes I'm keeping a secret.

Even worse is that I have about 10 months to go before my secret will be revealed.

i am unable to control myself when it comes to this little car. everybody has got to know that this is going to be my next vehicle.

the first day i saw it i told my business partner in ca that i really wanted one. two weeks later he said that he was going to lease it for me. i am glad i didn't keep it to myself.

we took our best friends to tampa so i could go on a test drive. we waited for nearly two hours. funny thing was, i didn't mind. i think they were a little put out but they saw my extreme enthusiasm (totally out of character if you know me) and (like true best firends) they acted excited about it, too.

i believe this is the most i have ever wanted anything. its bizarre and a bit scarry, but its also very exciting and (judging by the overwhelming majority of very satisfied people on this site) very gratifying when i finally get mine.

It's no Secret for me... I've waited 6 YEARS !!!! I was about to import one but found out about the US release so I waited and waited. The first time one pulled through town I had THREE people call my house and tell me where it was parked, and to get over there and see it!!! Should be here this next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was keeping it a secret but now everyone knows! It was really funny because my aunt came to the apartment I was fixing and the neighbors were out. She had already known that I was dying (literally, let me tell you) to get a mini. So she sees and goes to the neighbors, "Excuse me is that your car." The next door neighbor said that it wasn't hers but whoever owned it was inside. She went inside the apartment and all she saw was my parents, my grandpa, and I in the room. She looked directly at me and she literally screamed, "OMG! YOU HAVE A MINI-COOPER!!!" She was so happy for me and it was so funny!

I hadn't told anyone but my friend came over and was like wow a mini-cooper that's awesome! Only 2 other minicoopers are out here in the desert so it was kind of a big thing because we were ONE of the first but now everyone knows and it's no secret but it was before! it's my first week with the car and i am still excited about owning a mini!

I have bought a new MC for my fiance. It is sitting at the dealership right now!!!! I have been struggling for weeks trying to figure out how to surprise her with it. It is not around any important dates - just a random gift. The idea I am thinking about now is going to a restaurant and either having the keys given to her for dessert OR having the valet pull up in it as she waits at the curb.

Have also thought about a scavanger hunt around the city to give her clues to its hiding place.

Live in an apartment so we don't have a garage.

ANY HELPFUL IDEAS - THURSDAY IS THE DAY

WOW! What a FANTASTIC gift! I hope she knows what a lucky lady she is. I love the scavenger hunt idea, my husband did that for me once and it was loads of fun. It took a lot of time, though, and you may have more fun spending the time driving around time in the Mini after she gets the key. In that case, the valet idea sounds like a winner. Either way, you can't go wrong! Tell me how she reacts, I would love to read the story!

I put down my deposit at the end of July and am expecting mine in November-December. My fiance and friends here in Boston know about it, but I'm not telling my family until the car is actually mine -- I'm getting married in less than two weeks and know they'll all think I'm being irresponsible to spend money on a car when I'm already spending so much on the wedding. I'm 31 years old and they still know how to make me feel guilty!!
