Where does the Tire jack belong?

Where does the Tire jack belong? I found it in the "trunk". But I'm sure it belongs elsewhere.

Is is in a pouch or just loose?

If it's loose, it belongs in the pouch. If it's in the pouch, the pouch has hooks on it that secure it in the boot.

That probably makes no sense at all.

I hooked the straps onto the 2 metal type rings that are in the floor of the boot on the driver's side.

Right above the spare tire under the boot's false floor (assuming you have a Cooper )

Tire jack issues

Ok, OK. Here it is from the top. I have a MINI. It came with a tire jack. the tire jack is in a pouch. The pouch is rolling around in the trunk. Questions are as follows:
Where is the boot?
Where does the pouch strap to?

There are a couple of different places the hooks will go. Just survey the area and pick two - mine secures nicely in a lengthwise (north/south, front/back) configuration.

it goes in the trunk.
the straps are on the pouch and they can be hooked onto the 2 eyelets in the trunk. there are 4 eyelets, 2 on the driver side, 2 on the passenger side.

The eyelets on which to hook the jack pouch are fairly obvious.
As an alternative, you can get a boot box and leave it in there.

The boot IS the trunk (it's a Brit thing)
boot = trunk
hood = bonnet
wrench = spanner

My jack is in the pouch and inserted in the driver's side compartment in the hatch - not rolling around and not taking up cargo space, but hidden in that compartment on the driver's side. It takes a little twist to get it in there, but it fits great, and doesn't roll around.

Boot is British for trunk.
That pouch has two straps with hooks. When delivered mine had the non-elastic strap hook hooked to the metal tie down loop behind the driver's side rear seat and the elastic strap hook hooked to the metal tie down loop that lines up with it nearer to the rear bumper. That's about the best description I can give without taking a picture.

I don't really know why it's still in my boot though. I can't think of a situation in which I'd use it.

In the beginning....

my 02 S didn't come with a jack. Or the pull to open the hatch from the inside.

I got the leaking coolant tank tho

Nyah, you still need one for putting on snow tires around here... though my $99 aluminum "racing jack" works better.

"Racing jack" - yeah right. They're awfully hard to ride on.

From what I gathered (being a new MINI owner myself), I believe the "boot" is the trunk. I'm still not sure why it's call boot, but hey, everything has gotta be different on the MINI, right?

The English like to hang onto things: it was a boot on carriages and coaches, and it'll damn well be a boot on automobiles!

If I'm in Great Britain and driving on the "wrong" side of the road, it's a boot. To me it'll always be "the hatch", "the trunk", "in back". I've found using the word "boot" with non-Motorers almost always produces a question or (more often) an eye roll, and quite often both.

I have no idea what we need a jack for with an MCS. Yes. my MCS came with one. Nope, no spare. Having the jack in the boot seems usless. I have a floor jack at home for when I want to rotate the tires (much faster and safer).

It's for getting unstuck after watching the submarine races with your honey - when you discover (too late) that you parked with one tire in mud
