any more oldies out there who own/want a Mini? Found a red/white top with cloth interior. It has NO options. I think this will be fine with me. The only thing I would miss is cruise control and I've been told an aftermarket unit can be installed for $150. Haven't seen the car yet, dealer is 180 miles away and the car won't be in till about 8/15. The dealer wants list which is a few dollars under $17,000. Think I'll be a happy old dude?

You'll have a blast! I wouldn't worry about the cruise control, I've put 4600 miles on my MCS in 5 weeks and have used the cruise control for maybe only 100 of those miles. There are all kinds of other cool things that you can do to your MINI Cooper, as I'm sure you're learning from this board!

Enjoy!!

You won't be disappointed in any way! I'm 50, and my MINI thinks I'm much younger.

Welcome to MCO. The MINI is one fun car! The group on this forum appears to be a younger crowd. There was a recent thread called The Reminiscing Thread and I was expecting things like remember telephone party lines or when Elvis first appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show. Most of the things on the thread I never even heard of as they were of no interest to me at the time due to my age (I will be 56 next time around). That being said, the group is by and large passionate about their MC’s, are quite knowledgeable and for the most part courteous. It is all in all a very nice group of fellow enthusiasts. I hope you enjoy your time hanging out here. The Reminiscing Thread

I got my MINI, with my wife's encouragement, a couple of weeks before my 50th birthday  !!

Enjoy,
Ron

It sure beats rejuvenation pills. Lots of seniors out there driving MINIs. Are you getting the standard 15" wheels? The 16" run-flats may be a little too stiff a ride for some people. (I have them)

Yep, the car has no options, comes with 15" can't run flat tires. I've been scared off the run flats, think I would swap them out if I had them.

Get the MINI,

It was made by water sprites in Oxfordshire specifically for the purpose of turning back the clock. A MC is good for 15 yrs of "yoof" while a MCS is good for 22 yrs of "yoof".

I'm an 18 yr old "yoof" and proud of it! Thanks to my MCS.

Hi. I'll be 68 when we [my wife's 64] get our m-c. Really looking forward to it. Many thanx for an interesting site. It helped us sort out what options we really wanted [and those bits we thought we needed/deserved].

Hello...

A good friend of mine turned 60 in February, he got a Corvette.

I am turning 60 in December, I am getting a MINI S, it is on the Trinidad, and will be in calif. Augest 22. I am picking it up in Las Vegas (my closest Dealer). I live in Cedar City, UT.

I love small cars, drove a 1972 Honda 600 Sedan for several years. Much smaller than the new MINI.

I retired in 1995 and moved to Utah from S. Ca.

If you're about to turn the big 6-0 I figure you got your license in about 1960 and the first car you ever owned/drove was something from the early 50's. So compared to that your plain MINI is loaded Air, PS, PB (with anti-lock), PW. BTW us MINI owners don't need no stinkin' cruise control we're too busy motorin' to let someone else control the go pedal

my 1st car was 1948 Chevy Fleetmaster everything I've owned since then has been loaded compared to that beast.

I got mine 3 months before I turned 60. Cousin MINI doesn't know how old I am and doesn't seem to care.

You will love it!

Y'all are awesome!!! I won't hit "the big 6-0" for another 12 years but I do relate to wanting to drive something that harkens back to your first cars. I grew up on British sports cars, so I'm thrilled to drive something with such great automotive roots....although maybe a "tad bit" more solid/reliable than the cars I remembered.

with 'crowns', specs, viagra + the Mini-Cooper, I'm not ready to join an over-50s club. My first 'car' was the BMW Bubble. Now there's a memorable driving experience!!
