One of my favorite aspects of the MINI experience to date, has been the unique marketing campaign. The newspaper, magazine, and billboard advertisements explaining the MINI spirit are brilliant and really should be archived.

Only Volkswagen, with its old Beetle campaign back in the sixties and seventies, approaches MINI with it's blend of humor, intelligence, and funkiness.

Whaddya think ?

Is anyone else out there as jazzed about the ads as I am ?

I love the MINI ad campaign. I think that only VW has ads that are as entertaining as the MINI. Automobile Magazine has a great article on how to create an Icon out of a new car. The article focuses on the MINI and their approach to promoting and advertising the new MINI. Basically how the MINI is one of the few cars that has a "soul."

I've got a MINI advertising shrine in my cubicle at work... I've got the one you customize with stickers, the book of motoring, the road rules, air freshener and the southeastern state stickers. As a matter of fact, I have two southeastern states stickers, so if anyone has other regional states and wants to trade, please let me know.

I've been collecting stuff also, fanatically. Brochures, articles, models, catalogs, books (old Mini mostly, and the one new MINI book), etc.

I'm craving a collection of the advertisements. That's why I initially wrote this post.

I figure others,as well as myself, would go nuts color printing the MINI ads, and filing 'em chronologically in plastic 3 ring sleeves and have a whole MINI ad story of the development of the marketing campaign.

I'm a little obsessive.

But to paraphrase a quote I've heard somewhere, "Obsession in the pursuit of perfection is no vice", or something like that ......

Or is it ?

I've got every magazine that has the smalest article on the MINI (Cooper or s), a stack ov various dealer booklets (they have a new one out recently), and a wish list a mile long. Just a few more months!

Sad but true?
I have a bunch of British magazines with new MINI articles to collect when I visit my Dad in October ... maybe rare things back here in USA when I return?

I saw the best billboard on Floriday's freeway between Miami and Ft Lauderdate last weekend - it was a picture of a red MC on a road w/Palm trees (fake ones implanted in the ground, not on the billboard) bending over towards it as if the speed of the MINI forced that kind of "whoosh" action. It was awesome! We were motoring along in a rental so I didn't get a chance to take a pic, but it was great!!!

The ads have been fun. Friends have brought me the ads they have found in magazines. I have found it very thoughtful of them.

what is slick is the follow up marketing...when I picked up my mini from the dealer, they had it sitting on the sales floor with other minis, but my mini was the only one covered with a mini car cover...they led me over to it and pulled off the car cover, very dramatic....then a mini girl in a black mini t shirt brought out to me a mini t-shirt with the number 7 on the front and mini and the back, signifying that the first 300 mini owners got t shirts from the dealer......they then gave me a mini pen to sign the contract......then weeks later I got a mini kit in the mail, another mini pen, mini games, mini cards, a mini journal to keep in the gloe box and write about my trips in the mini

very impressive and cute marketing...they obviously have spent a great deal of time planning the marketing......the only thing I would have added was a gift of the history of the mini in a book, from the orginal classic mini to todays mini....maybe I would have got that at the 1st service date if I would have keep the mini....I received one when I had a bimmer........nice touch...cheers...
