i never remember seeing any, it just seems that theres supposed to be a plastic cover piece over the little red square button (dome light)

There should be a piece covering those. I have one and am missing one in my R53.

 

those fall off all the time, or so my local dealer says. mine was missing at delivery

 

damn ive been missing both since i got the car then!

you know what that means...my dad lost them! bought the car from him, lol

 

ehh, f it then. im getting ready to dye it black to match my interior, just wanted to check on the buttons, but if they fall off all the time, my bass will just knock them out, so might as well leave them off!

You can order the caps for about a buck each from a dealership.

Part #63316988209 for a black cap, and part #63316988172 for a gray one.

If the part number is good, any dealer should be able to get it for you...
It is possible it has been discontinued.... Think I remember the whole unit had to be ordered now...
BUT waymotorworks (at least they did last night) had a complete unit shown on the used parts page for about $20.
