Rubber Mats sliding all over the place

OK so here's the dilemma;

We just took delivery of our new 2007 MCSa and the we got the new rubber mats from the dealer for the MCS. The issue is that the mats do not have any mechanism to secure them in the foot wells. Our 2005 MCS had little clips in the floor that secured the mats but the new model does not.

Has anyone figured out how to keep the factory mats in a 2007 to keep from sliding around, or am I missing something this time around??

I've searched the site and can;t seem to find any quick answers so any help would be appreciated

Regards,
Paul

Mine are doing the same thing. They've slid around so much that they've pulled the (for lack of a better name) velcro screwthing that sticks in the floor out. I've been thinking about getting some ultra-hold velcro and shaving a bare spot on the floor to stick it too.

Driving 200 miles home with my brand-new 07MCSm I almost wrecked because of the sliding mat when it bunched under the pedals.

I applied some self-adhesive industrial Velcro to the mat, and it has stayed in place perfectly. It's a very quick and easy fix.

This is not a schmart axx comment, but I suggest you chuck the factory mats and get a wonderful set of Cocomats from www.cocomats.com. Fit perfectly, look great, will not side (have little nubs on the bottom) and can be even washed with a hose if necessary.

Do the new rubber mats not have dimples on the bottom. If not then maybe go back to the dealer and let them know of your situation. And see if the R53 versions with the dimples will fit the R56.

I've had mine for a while now and they stay in place.

I'm surprised to read this as I have the rubber mats in both of our R53s and they don't move at all.

How do they slide on carpet?? This seems very odd to me. I have the R53 and the rubber mats are almost difficult to remove; sliding is an impossibility.
Aren't there the little rubber "grabbers" on the bottom of the mats? If the rubber meets the carpet, there should be no sliding.

My 06 R53 has rubber mats and they:

1) Fit exactly and there is no room for them to slide around

2) Came with 2 "anchors" for each mat that keeps them in their place

3) Why is a R56 question being posted here? Did I say that out loud??

Yeah, I had to say it.

IN previous cars I've put small holes in the mat and anchored them to the seat rail(s) using zipties... removing to clean was an issue but I just lift and vacuum.

On my R53 the mates are, as stated above, perfectly fitted and don't move, even unsecured...

^^^ See above ^^^

This is the best solution to your issue. (Home Depot)

Stick the glue side of the "Scrachy side" of velcro to your rubber mat and use the carpet as the soft side.

Or drywall screws will do the trick .... < ~~ I AM KIDDING!

I'm not! VW had a system like that once (early '90s A1 Cabrios, the ones that looked like Rabbits with bodykits). It was a backing plate under the carpet and a screw on top. Unfortunately, the mats were a bear to clean around...

The R56 rubber mats do have two little "screw in" holders for the drivers side. It is easy for an MA to be a little lazy and pitch them instead of screwing them into the floor board. I stick them to the bottom of the mat, then punch them into the carpet of the car with my fist, then I carefully pull it off like a sticker, then screw them in. It's a little bit of a pain and that's why a lot of people (MAs?) don't put them in. Look at the back of your mat and you will see two circles with Velcro in them. Go to the dealer and ask them to give you the parts.
