R50/53 My only concern about being a new Mini owner.
I had decided to get a Mini S after test driving a friend of mines. I was on Vacation up in Galena Illinois, about 3 hours from Chicago. The roads up their are spectacular. Incredible winding roads with great tree canopy cover, kinda like a car commercial.
Well, I live in South Florida. All our roads are straight as boards and intersect at right angles.
Im concerned that after getting my new Mini, it wont be as fun as I remember because the roads I will be driving it on wont be as fun and the Mini doesnt have enough power to be all that much fun in a straight line.
Are their any South Florida mini owners here? How do you keep driving fun down here?
In case you missed it.....fun is really important to me.

Welcome to MCO Punisher! You're lucky, you just got a MINI in one of the most active MINI states in the Union. Join us for Islands of Adventure trip in August, Trip to Key West in September and a Cruise in October! Just look under the regional forums for Southeast - Florida.
As far as roads go, the loop in Daytona is very nice with covered trees and a few twisties. But I have to admit, I drove the Dragon earlier this year and now I'm kind of ruined. I can't wait to go back there and drive it again, 318 turns in 11 miles.

Punisher,
If you get too bored with all those flat, wide roads in S. Fla, come on up to South Alabama. We've got more windy, twisty little back roads than you can shake a stick at. You can also have fun trying to outrun Alabama Troopers and local Sheriffs. (Of course, I'm not advocating breaking the law

Might I suggest relocating to the Appalachian area, running from Alabama to New York, as having the best twisties in the U.S. I mean just look at what the car rags use for their feature articles: Road & Track - Blue Ridge Parkway, Car & Driver - South-Eastern Ohio byways, yea, flat ole' Fla. would sure be boring. So get your MINI and move to where the exciting roads are located!

I admit that after driving in states like Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and West Verginia, it does seem that Florida has some of the most boring roads on earth. My advise is to do what I did up here in Pinellas county... pull out a big road map and find some interesting roads, then go motor them and see what you find... highlight the ones that turn out fun.
For those odf you IN Pinellas county... see this page on my website for some nice drives:

One word... autocross. From what I remember from friends, Florida is a motorsports paradise of sorts. I'd sign up for your local SCCA chapter, go out and watch, and you'll be hooked. Then, you'll have PLENTY of turning...
Being in NW FL the roads are also straight and at right angles. Nonetheless my MCS is so much fun to drive. You’ll have to make up your own mind. Think of places you can drive that have any twists. You do have some tracks in that area. Just think of the fun you’ll have driving down a 30 MPH street and making a right hand turn on to another 30 MPH street keeping the speed steady without using the breaks. Now that’s fun.

Please.......can you tell me more about this?
Is this racing on a road racing course?
Homestead motor speedway is not far from me and they have an enormous venue. I wonder if they have track days for cars there.
Ill have to look into it.

Hummm, from the title I thought the point here was that your only concern was being called a Metrosexual.

Yikes, not enough twisties could make one's whole outlook on life less bright! I recommend relocating
One of the joys of lving in Oregon is the abundance of signs reading 20 or 25 mph. Makes the hour and 45 minute drive to the dealership much easier to live with.
