... how many of you try to spread your total mileage out between 2 cars and upon approach to both cars in the morning, you inevitably get in your MC/MCS.

I do this on a daily basis. I now have 5600 miles on my MCS since 02.28.2003. Car #2 (03 Trailblazer) has only put on 230 miles since I got my MCS. Mileage penalty, here I come!!!

My other car is a 1997 M3 and have put about 800 miles on it since I received my MCS. That was about 6 months ago. The MCS has around 9500 on it so know where your coming from.

 

depends on how long the drive is....longer drives (2hrs plus) I use the bimmer 5 because of the comfort of the seats and longer wheelbase....around town, definitely the MCS...

 

I am lucky enough to have a number of vehicles but purchased my MINI as my everyday car. The down side is that my other primary vehicle (a pick up previously used for track days) hardly sees me anymore and has stiffened up mechanically - you really need to exercise those other cars once in a while - machinery does not like to be left alone.

 

My household has three cars and four drivers. I will drive my MCS as much as possilbe except when it is storming and another car is at home or if I have to take more than 4 people around. Otherwise I drive the MCS.
As a result in the last 4 months I have driven the MCS 4400 miles and put on about 3000 miles combined on the other two. One already has 100,000 miles on it and the other 23,000.

 

We have 3 cars, two of them MINIs. The MINI with the lease gets the most mileage, up to the lease allowance. The purchased MINI is driven next, or when we need the rack. The older car has not been driven much since the MINIs arrived, but its A/C does not work and it has over 200K miles already.

5 cars, 3 drivers. One is company car which gets all the unpleasant chores.
So the MINI is not getting much miles. But we can't let more than a couple of days go by before we just take it for an aimless ride!

A 69 Caddy Convert gets 500 miles a year ($80/year insurance! About the same for fuel)

My fiance and I have a '97 4Runner and an '03 MCS and we alternate every few days 'cause we both want to drive the MCS for commuting purposes. The 4Runner, while nice, has become the dog-hauling, antique shopping, snowboard bound all around rig. We just drove up to Seattle (3hr trip) and back and the MCS is solid - we're getting married in August in Seattle and my future father-in-law promised to lock the JB/W MINI in the garage so no damn fool puts shaving cream all over it.

 

It is nice to see I am not alone. 2 drivers and 3 cars in the household. I leave for work before my wife does. If I don't take the MCS she will! It seems like our Ranger and Caravan are only getting used half the time. That was not what we expected. We have had the Mini for 9 months and now have 12,000 miles on her! :smile:

 

My other ride is a Mazda 6. 6cyl with a 5speed. It's a nice compliment to the Mini since I have three kiddos at home. As nice a ride as the Mazda is compared to the company Camrys and Buicks it always makes me long for the Mini.

I drive my truck back and forth to work most days (25 mile one way commute). Our parking lot is like a dent waiting to happen. Twice I have had people back into my truck and take off. The door dings are too numerous to count. I have had to replace a headlight, a grill and a taillight. I drive my MINI on nice sunny days (all three that we have had since March :??? and it seems like those are the days that the landscapers come and blow all that parking lot crap into the sides of our cars. The last time they did that a guy parked next to me left his top down got his interior totally covered in dust.

I now have 2000 miles since March and am still babying it a bit too much.

 

My wife uses the Jeep
I have a 330ci but the mini will replace it as my station car and weekend tuner.
The beemer will be the highway luxo cruiser

Its nice to have a selection, but the MCS is now my daily and my wifey uses the RAM so the bug and MG are now for sunday drives or car shows only.

 

Rant:

This is the reason I try not to drive the MINI to work. Today my son needed the truck so I drove my MINI to work (just washed and waxed last night). I heard the sound of jackhammering in the parking lot and looked out the window and they were working right in front of my car. I dashed out to move it to a more remote area to avoid stone chips flying up and dinging the paint. By the time my shift was over they had put loose blacktop down on the 1/4 mile driveway entrance. The construction crew did not even roll it at that point. I had no other choice but to drive down it . I went about 5 mph and cussed at them the entire way. When I left I immediately pulled into a parking lot and scraped as much loose tar and stone off my tire as I could with my hand and drove home. I had tar all over the place and took another hour to clean and wax. It is a good thing that is hot out and the tar was still soft. There were no notices that work was being done today. The dump trucks and equipment blocked many people in. Admin. is going to hear about this tomorrow!

I've 1,400 miles on my MCS since I took delivery on April 24th. My old airport banger (Mazda 323 liftback), with 97,000 miles on it has come out of retirement this week as there's a car show this weekend and Jack (my MCS) is all shiny and ready to be proudly shown. (The Great Race is coming to town .. http://www.greatrace.com).

My '95 Porsche had been resting nicely but I note my wife leaves her car behind and has been driving the MINI's cousin with greater frequency!

 

Great thread, fins4284. That's just what the wife was pointing out to me this very morning. :smile: we're seeing on these, there's no reason to give it back to the dealer. At nearly any point you could make more than enough, with MINImal effort, to pay-off the remaining & walk away hands free, more likely,- coming out ahead a grand or so.
