Was leaving Starbucks tonight and was passing some girls in the parking lot who mustve been in their 20's. My tinted windows were rolled up but my sunroof was open so i could hear them:

Girl 1: Eww those cars are so ugly.

Girl 2: Yeah, all old men drive them

Both: LAUGH

*******s.

Hey, they might have been talking about me. I just turned 55, have a 04 MCS on order. These cars ROCK, even if those young girls don't. Hee Hee

I had a similiar occurance my first week of Mini ownership. I stopped to let some people cross as they were on their way from the store to their cars. One teen girl pointed and laughed and her friend joined in. It sucked for about a second then I thought to myself "who cares?". It's what I like.

For every girl that says that I know of two teenage boys that rave over the cooper, usually the MCS.
My father who is 74 says, "gee that is a funny looking car" and then I remind him that he used to drive a Toyota Starlet for 10 years.
Overall the cooper is uniquely styled, some people really like it (most grown women think it is cute).
Buyers are men and women, young and older. I see lots of women driving them. In my area I would guess a third of drivers are women.
I'm teaching my 19 year old daughter how to drive a MCS and she loves it.
I would not worry about a few adolescent girls talking and trying to be hip.
The MCS rocks

I have my 18 year old brother doing some work for me at my old house which I still own (anyone want it?) and as I pull up in my 03 MCS his friend says "Oh, I hate those cars" and as my brother introduces me to his friend I say, "Oh, I hate that name" without a hint of humor. He went back and sat in the car (I am not a small guy).

Petty...you betcha.

They were being silly girls. Nothing more. They like to provoke to see what types of responses they can get. A more agressive type of "people watcher". Let it roll off your back. motor on

The Starbucks parking lot is not generally a place where I go in search of wisdom.

PDX_Mini: nice comeback! That's the kind of thing I usually think to say after the opportunity has passed.

Great...but maybe you could have been just a bit more cruel....maybe something like "Oh, I hate your clothes, your mother sure dresses you funny."

Great comeback!

I've gotten a few girls that have laughed at my MINI but even more have come up to me and asked me about it and have said it was "cute". Whenever they say that I just say "no...its not cute" and drive off

Having my MCS almost a year now, driving about in a town that is void of MINI’s, I have found no one to make any bad comments about my car. I get lots of funning about the size, but it’s all in fun. I still find myself coming out of a store and having people looking through the windows and full of questions as I open it up.

There are people out there that may not like MINI’s for what ever reason, but the bottom line is, I love my MCS and am not concerned if they do not.

haven't gotten anything like that, yet. but then again, maybe i just wasn't paying attention to them and was just in my own little mini world.

i would guess that all of us have gotten far, far more positive compliments or geniunely curious reactions, ie. questions or peering through the windows, rather than negative jabs.

Who cares! It's about us. If everyone liked it, the roads would be clogged with Minis. I once had a Saab model 95 station wagon. The front looked like a Milk Truck. Mad Ugly. Motor On!

I saw a tiny picture in a decorating magazine in fall 2001 and knew that I had to have it. It was just the "cute", different, European style car I'd been waiting for. Deposit in Nov. 01, but waited for some options to become available before ordering. It's waiting for me now at the dealership. It's going to be so much fun! I'm tired of my boring Acura. Maybe I'll learn autocross.

Forget those girls, the important thing is that you love it!

OK, can we all just agree that Ants was ticked by having "girls" of his own demographic diss his MINI? That's why he can call something "bad" that many of the rest of us would have called "funny" or perhaps not have noticed at all?
