Hey everyone!

Boy I'm glad I found an active Mini forum. So my bro works at BaronBMW in Kansas City and he's going to (hopefully) be selling me their demo Mini S they have. 2700 miles on that bad boy. Indiglo blue, Brit flag on top (fine with me as I am raised a Londoner :smile and every option the car can have except for the sunroof. Very excited. I'm going to trade in my 01 Acura TL for it. I want something small, fast, and nimble.....the Mini is the perfect option I think.

I test drove the S today down here at BMW North Scottsdale and boy was that a blast! They did have a John Cooper version but we didn't take that our for a spin. But seriously, gotta love that Getrag 6 speed eh? Just beautiful. Quiet, and very comfortable. I was extremely impressed.

I'm used to driving a quiet and comfy V6 so I was curious about stepping down for a 4 cylinder but I think I'll be quite happy. The thing is a joy to drive and so much FUN!

Hopefully it'll have a couple of things added for me by the time I pick it up. I'm driving back to KS to trade in my car. Going to get the windows tinted (a must out here in AZ), get the clear tail lights, the carbon fibre interior trim, and get the mini fridge for the trunk

I'm aching to get back and pick this thing up! The only possibility holding me back is that the dealer needs another S version demo car if they sell this one otherwise they can't sell it. There is an S in stock that someone cancelled their order on so I'm hoping this won't cause any issues!

Anyway, I'm blabbering on here.........thanks for listening!!

Welcome to MCO-Hafid
Good luck getting the demo. Glad you liked the test drive of the MCS. It is a good mix of handling and fun.
Get the dealer to change the oil early before they turn it over to you. I have the indy blue and it is great but watch out for scratches. I only use clean micro towels. I never use automatic carwashes. Pick up a bottle(actually two bottles- one clearcoat and the other is blue) of touch up paint. The tail light option is for three lights- one on the top near the spoiler and the others at each side of the rear. All are easy to install yourself and you don't need the install kit. You do need some sort of red reflector facing the rear so that when the car is parked at night other headlights will reflect the red color to warn them of the mini

Since it is a demo check for any coolant leak from the white coolant bottle. If the bottle is beige then it is the new design and may not leak. Check for 2 fat bulgy MINI keys and one small plastic key.

Every option ordered except sunroof? That means you have NAV on the center of the dash? Cold weather seats and park distance controller? Aero Kit all around and painted wheel wells? 17" R90 two piece BBS alloy wheels with runflats? There is no "carbon fiber" interior trim option. The dash can be alloy patina, silver, or anthracite finish.

You will be the best value for your Acura if you sell it yourself to a third party. The dealerships are notoriously bad at estimating way too low on used cars no matter how good.
Good luck and Aloha,

Brad

Hey Haf,

You definetly have it bad...but so did I after test driving my MC back in Sept. In fact, I knew I would be leaving with an MC the moment I saw the dealership and the wide choice of cars to buy. I remember driving several, but setlled on an Indi Blue Cooper. For me, the lack of a chromed grill in the front was the deciding factor between the MC & the MCS. I hope the deal works out well for you.

Jim

Thanks for the comments!

Brad, I'll keep an eye for what you noted to make sure everything is in check. Thanks for the tips! Yes, the car has all the options you listed! Nav/cold/aero kit/PDC/DSC/runflats/HK/....gosh, too many to list as you know - and the I believe the wheels are the S-lite ones. Now that I think about it there are no fog lights in the grill.

The carbon fibre trim kit is an aftermarket accessory from a third party company that the dealer sells. I'm getting the car at invoice and getting an improved buy back value on my Acura thanks for my brother.

Will certainly pickup some paint. I use Zaino to polish my car and plan to use the clay bar on the car to remove any contaminants and perform a 3 layer polish. This stuff is amazing and I'm really happy with the results I've gotten out of it.

Jim, tell me about it! I wanted to drive home with the car right then! So funny!

Thanks again, I'll keep you posted!

haf

Wow that is a packed MCS. I was just kidding when I mentioned those options because few are ordered like that. I can see why the dealership doesn't want to loose that car given the options you listed. Buyers want to see the features and the best way to show them is to have a demo car like that.

Another thing to check for is any chips or cracks in the front windshield. Stones can do this and on demo rides there can be accidents. If the car already has the white tail lights- just check that the top light is also white and not red unless that is what you want. I have all three lights white and like that look with my indy blue. I think yours could be good either way.

Park distance control isn't that useful if you are good at backing up.

Did you get the 6 CD changer? Harmon Kardon option? The Sports package includes DSC, 17" S-lites, Xenon lights and fog lamps. Maybe the dealer ordered each individually but left out fog lamps? I doubt it. If you see the Sports package then you have fog lamps. Leather seats? Blue Lapis (like mine-I like them) or Black?

Have fun. No wonder why you are excited
Also great deal on the enhanced trade in arrangement! Most people get about a third of the correct value at BMW dealerships unless they trade a MINI or BMW.

Changer in the trunk, Harmon Kardon incl., and probably the littel fog lamps. Leather seats with the blue lapis! This thing is just like yours!

I'll hopefully be driving back to PHX from KC after the 4th, looking forward to that drive

You know, why does a mini need park distance? The thing is absolutely tiny? Parking would be a breeze!
