Hey,
I was just wondering how many windshields you guys have one through on your MINI> I am wondering this, because went I went to my service center, the tech and some other customers were very surprised that I still had my first windshield. I have just about 23,000 miles. I have one rock chip in the top center, that I have had since about 2,000 miles, and it has yet to branch out. #1 windeild for me. How about you?

Less than 2 weeks old and has lots of pits already in it. It is a PPG windshield...

My MINI is on it's 5th windshield

The issue I find most discouraging as I consider my future with the MINI is windshield replacement. Thus far, my MINI has had five windshields installed - three replaced due to stress cracks. The windshield surface is very upright on the MINI, so it's also prone to picking up rock chips in the winter. While MINIUSA has replaced some of these windshields under warranty, I am concerned about how many times I may need to replace the windshield on my own, especially after the warranty is up.
Windshields Replaced (4): 7/2002, 9/2002, 11/2002, 5/2003

Just got new windshield#1 installed today. Hope it's the last one for awhile. 3500 miles. I got the PPG glass, hope it hold up better than original.

How's your PPG holding up? Mine ALREADY is pitted a lot. And one small rock chip I just found a little bit ago.

I'm on my second windshield and it's a PPG. It is also very pitted. No major chips yet though. Interestingly I have a nice rock chip now in my passenger side window. I have no idea how or when I got that one...

Just got a rock chip today, second one on the glass in addition to surface pits.
No cracks, a clean chip, thank god.
Flew from the rear tires of a truck and into my windshield.

This is the original windshield on a 5/2002 build cooper S.

Car has 5400 miles.

I am going to try to fill the chip with permatex after practicing the technique on my mercedes since I also have a chip on that too but in a less visible area.

Why can't the cities clean up their dirt after they do road construction.

At 16,000 kms, mine is now on it's second. When it went, I was travelling very slowly (actually, thats very rare in the Mini), about 15 mph over a bumpy road in a construction zone. It just went bang, and I had a star in the middle. There were no other vehicles within about 100 ft, and we saw nothing hit the glass. The dealer said that there was no warranty coverage, since the glass appeared pitted. I will have to appeal that to a higher authority. :???:

Stress cracks? I thought the chassis was supposed to be very rigid. WTH?
