I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on a decision I am trying to make. I have ordered a chili red w/ white roof S. I am getting a sunroof, bonnet stripes and rally lights. Now I am considering getting the Union Jack decal from carvogue.uk designed for sunroofs. My only concerning is putting too much on the exterior of my S. I don't want it to look cluttered or too busy. Would getting the colored UJ decal on the sunroof along with the bonnet stripes and rally lights be too much? Would it look alright with the chili red and white roof? Questions, questions. It never ends when your trying to get a MINI.

GO FOR IT! I am waiting for my Dark Silver, Light Silver white UJ from CarVogue. I too have the Bonnet stripes and rally lights. I asked everyone here their opinion and now I am going for it myself.

Your chili red with the UJ will look great!

I think your car will still look very good and still be tastefully done. I think you are going for the rally look!. The Union Jack and the US flags do look best on either Chili Red or Indy Blue.

I do not see a problem. If this is what you like go for it....it is you car and $$$ after all!

Best of luck!

I have a Chili Red w/ white Cooper and the UJ flag (no sunroof) and I am still thinking of adding the bonnet stripes. It does become a little cluttered, I guess, but, like another post sez, that's essentially the traditional rally look which I was trying to get. The '60's era rally cars were almost always red/white and had all kinda stuff on 'em. If I can suggest, get a book on the original mini's and you'll see all the different things done with the cars and can get some ideas and feel for the rally "look". The look on the "original" Minis completely translates to the current car. There's also some good pictures of current cars "tricked out" on this website, plus check out some of the links. Good luck.

Thanks for your advice! Not much hesitation in your suggestion to go ahead and get the UJ decal. By the way, please post some pics of your MINI once you get your silver and white UJ put on it. Are you getting the sunroof decal or just a regular one?

Thanks! I agree that the UJ looks the best with Chili Red or Indy Blue. I definately want to get that rally look. I just wanted to make sure other people thought that my MINI would still look tasteful. Can't have an unfashionable MINI.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll go over to my local Borders and see if I can get a book on the original mini. It will definately help me with the look I'm trying to achieve without looking tacky.

Thanks. My dealer only has MINI's with the US flag on it. Therefore, I haven't been able to see one with a UJ in person. The US Flag looks very nice on the Chili Red MINI, but I prefer the Union Jack to honor the tradition of the MINI. Plus, I think the UJ is one of the coolest looking flags.

Go for it! Modding MINIs is what it's all about; these cars are all about fun & performance, not cars as appliances.

I just got this book from Amazon [free plug] "Essential Mini Cooper" The Cars and their story 1961-71 &1990 to date . Anders ditlev clausager

full of photos of rally cars etc. I like the way the stripes were on the original mini's, I really don't prefer them now, but it all depends on the car and the personality of the car.

I say go for it! Your baby will only look better

Besides, it's not as if you're considering a "flying nun" (super giant wing) on the back and a noisy coffee can for a tailpipe and red neon underneath.
