I just put down the $500 refundable deposit for the MCS. When I took the test drive (of the MC) they said it would be 6 months to get to place an order. The guy was wrong and now they say its 12 months just to place an order. Bummer... I want to place my own custom order and am not ready to buy right now, so I guess I will start the wait... If the VW Turbo S just looked better... and if it did not have that stupid flower holder in the car.

if you are not ready to buy then the wait is good. sock money away.
however, there are other cars coming. if your deposit is REFUNDABLE, what would the big whoop be to place the order. or settle for a lot car. theya re coming pretty well equipped.

I placed mine about a week ago. There's "only" a 6 month wait for a Cooper but I won't have the cashish until next June. They let me place the order anyhow and will just keep pushing me back until the time that a June delivery will work.

I hate to wait that long but if I want a decent down-payment that's the deal. Here's to 10 months and counting!

Shannon from the Denver dealer said she would contact me when spec cars come in. One thing I don't want is leather, I would love it but I want to keep my cost under 23k and the leather option is expensive.

If I decide I can make this my only car then I could buy sooner with a trade in. Since my fiance will have an SUV then it would probably be ok...

Where do you suggest to look for spec cars... Ebay may be a good place, but I am not willing to pay over MSRP.

It's going to be a tough job, but I think you'll have to call different dealers and ask every week or so. Maybe ask them how often they get "deliveries" and just schedule it on your calendar to call. Unfortunately, I think most dealers will maybe say they'll call YOU, but they often DON'T. Not necessarily they're fault...they've got to be pretty busy, you know?

As far as where else you could buy, I'd say nowhere...maybe check this and MINi2.com's forums for people looking to sell. Otherwise, I think all other dealers and eBay people are looking to make some $$ on the sale. Good luck!
