Hi all, I'm new. I'm considering buying a Mini.

I love the dealer rating feature this site offers. I wish it were on the Miata forum. Thus, my buying experience might have been better (long story). This is why I'm putting up this post.

I noticed that under Virginia, no one has posted any dealership input for the N. VA dealers in Fairfax County like Fairfax, Tysons Corner, Falls Church, etc. This is the area I'd be shopping in.

If anyone has purchased a mini in this area, or has dealership experience in this area, I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks.

The only dealer in Northern VA is in Sterling. The Arlington dealership never got off the ground. The closest dealer to Sterling is in Annapolis. I've been dealing with the Sterling dealer, and so far, they've been great. No markups but a long (six months for a S) waiting list. I've been hanging around and bugging John and Keith on a fairly regular basis, and they are always friendly and helpful.

There is only one dealer I know of in the Northern, VA area and that is MINI of Sterling. That is where I bought my MINI and I'm happy with the service. They are busy but willing to chat. You can find them at 571-434-1944. You would do better to just drive out and visit them rather then calling.

BMW in Crystal City has 2 MINI's you can drive, but they are not able to sell any until they build their showroom.

Otherwise you will need to go to Annopolis, MD to get one at Tate BMW.

Hope this helps.

I just assumed the BMW dealership on Rte. 7 had the Mini. That's what I get for assuming.

Thanks guys. Looks like Keith and John will be bugged my me too.

I went to MINI of Sterling. I have nothing but good things to say to this point. My car, a MC is on order. While waiting I changed my order a few times and visited the dealership often. I have always been treated well. Before I ordered I was able to test drive a Cooper, Cooper S and a Cooper with CVT. I also was able to decide about seating and exterior options in my many MINI trips. I can not report first hand on their service as I do not have a car yet. That said in reading this and other web sites I found Mini of Sterling was one of the dealers to figure out how to do some of the programming of the different optional comfort features. It is my view that this (along with other things I have read) points to a good relationship in the service arena.

MOTOR ON Everyone

Waiting on Silk Green MC

Bingballs,

While I was eating lunch, it dawned on me that a few months ago I was coming out of Knossos in Vienna, VA and there was this cute Mini parked. The lady was about to drive out so I waved and she stopped. I asked her how she liked the car etc. I did ask her after all was said and done if the ballpark dollar amount was around X? And I also asked her how long it took to get.

She smiled and said something along the lines that her husband owned the dealership in Maryland and so she couldn't really give an answer. Her daughter was also in the car.

They were really nice folks. Thus, I assume the dealership would be if I went there. But...

Annapolis, MD is too far for me. Plus to deal with a sale in MD and then registrar in VA plates, car property tax, etc. is more fussy than just buying it in VA to begin with. So I'll probably go to Sterling, unless by January another dealer closer gets available.

Richmond, VA also has a MINI dealership. I have not been there yet but I am hoping to go there sometime this week just to look around. Probably won't get a testdrive but just look instead and see how they are.
