A friend took his Z06 Corvette and said it was well worth it. Figured out that his car had far more ability than he did. He said there was a wide variety of cars there the day he went. He plans to go again and I may go as well.

I am not sure where you bought your MINI or where you live, but MINI of Mt. View is sponsoring the 1st Annual MINI day at Thunderhill in August. Cost is $300 and there are about 50 cars and 8 instructors signed up. Let me know if you are interested and I can PM you the contact information. They are planning an in car video camera and a lot of individual track time. I was going to sign-up for the "Street School" for $195 with some friends with their 911's. Being with a bunch of fellow MINI enthusiasts seems like a lot more fun to me! You can also bring a friend if you want.

They have a session scheduled for Friday July 25th. I am thinking about going to that one. It would be cool to get some MINIs up there.

I want to go. How far is the track from the SF area?

I got mine from SF Mini, and I live in Santa Rosa.
The MINI day sounds cool. What do you get for the extra 100 bucks besides a bunch of Minis?
I am interested, PM me the info please.

Andy

Ivan, It's in Willows. I went fishing near there last friday, (mad mad mad shad fishing, my arms are still sore from 8 hours of flycasting) It took me 2.5 hours from Santa Rosa. Probably about the same from SF. Maybe an extra 1/2 hour.

I am interested in the mini day in August, but I know that I can go on July 25th.

Andy,
I PM'd the information to you. Another school is offered by Driving Concepts which has a class at Laguna Seca on Dec. 31st. A bit pricier at $395, but Laguna Seca would be a lot of fun. I also heard that Driving Concepts does a school at Sears Point (Infineon Raceway), which would be real close for you. There is also a BMW Club that you can join and get in on some track days as well. Check out Driving Concept here

gosharks,
can you PM the info to me as well? I will be getting my car at the end of the month and am interested in learning to become a good MINI driver. I just learned how to drive a stick, so I'm not sure if I'll be too inexperienced for the Annual MINI Day. Also, do you have to have a performance ready car with the proper tires and such?

TIA,
Trish

Thanks for the info gosharks.

Minikin. Your car is ready for fun when you get it. Try to get through the breakin period if you can. I think these classes would be a great way to learn how to drive a stick the right way. By the time you cover your breakin you should be very comfortable with it.

Trish,
I just PM's you the information. I would be more concerned about getting your car past the 1200 mile break-in period more than anything (MINI of Mt. View recently had a MINI run down the coast through some awesome roads and wanted to know if people had their cars through the break-in period yet). I will have my car outfitted with H Sport Springs and a Madness Swaybar from Randy at MINI Motorsport. But your really don't need to do anything to your car except have fun with it.
Cheers!

Thanks for the mail, gosharks! I'll give him a call and let you know what he says. I was so excited reading this post, I forgot that I'd have to finish the break-in period first. Guess I have a lot of motoring ahead of me. If I won't be able to participate, then maybe I'll go just to watch you all. That should still be fun.

Trish
