Chris - the rain sensor equipped MINI's are notorious for having crappy windshield seals from the factory - you'll have to get your windsheild re-seated to get the problem fixed. The no sidemarker, easy, just have 'em pop in a new one. While I haven't seen an H/K equipped with the speed sensitive adjustment, um, EVER, it changes itself if you listen to it, and it's just right - no need to change it. As for the yo-yo issue, sounds like you'll have to get in line for the latest software that's being released December 1st.
Two day later update: Other than a loose passenger door woofer (typical of the H/K), everything else is top-notch!
Cheers,
Ryan

I am again impressed by the "consistency" of problems in our MINIs......
Same thing with BMWs. If it goes wrong in my car, chances are it is a common problem, and a quick search on the website can usually bring you to the solution........

My parents showed up outta no where today with the MINI. 2200 miles and still just a great as when I picked it up. Mom was telling me to not take off so fast, I was doing 3500 rpms! And when I'd go around a corner she'd tell me to slow down, guess she hasnt gotten used to the fact that this isnt some buick boat or SUV. And then they toke it from me once again
here are some pics of my car finally. they were taken at the classic car shop i work at so theres a couple of minis in once in a while. last week there was 2 at the same time which is wierd. anyway, i am loving this little car so much. i get a lot pf comments from people too, i kinda like the attention. well here are the pics

Just got back from a road trip to Plymouth, WI in my new Mini. Sgt. Pepper is about two weeks old now
with 1,000 miles. The car performed wonderfully. I was pleasantly surprised by getting 35 mpg.
We stayed at a great Irish guest house called 52 Stafford and ate at a great restaurant called
Silver Springs. Here is a link to some pictures I took.

If you're ever near Plymouth (about 45 minutes north of Milwaukee) I would highly recommend
both of these places.

Ryan , congrats on your 300 miles. i had a problem with things falling out of my glove box. i have a GBO, so i went to home depot and bought an 8 ft piece of plastic for the edge of paneling and cut it to fit the edge of the shelf of the GBO. and slid it on . this left a lip to prevent things from sliding off shelf. i then cut 2 pieces to fit the GB door bottom edge leaving a space between them for the GBO divider. works great. they only had white at the time, but for a cpl bucks thought i would try it. hope this is explained good enough. will try to add a pic, pic would not come up, here is the url, tim

Well, I stopped by the dealer on Friday, and found out the car had arrived that morning. After my begging, they agreed to make delivery Saturday morning! So I missed the CWFO club by one day. Unfortunately, the weather was downright miserable with freezing drizzle, so I was a little leery of picking it up, but my anticipation overtook common sense and I got the car anyway. The weather continued to be miserable all weekend, so I didn't get to go out motoring like everyone else around here, but still managed to put 50 miles on it by this morning. I will say that I love this car! I absolutely love the way the supercharger sounds, and the car feels like a tank. I've never driven a car that feels so solid. I'm still getting used to the speedo in the middle, but at night it looks awesome when everything is lit up. With the constant freezing drizzle all weekend, I'm very happy with the rain-sensing wipers because they performed flawlessly. My only regret at this point is the base radio is a piece of garbage, but since I listen to sports talk on am almost exclusively, that should not be too big an issue. Here's a pic of the car, the weather didn't cooperate much in getting a good one, but this will do.

>>anybody getting headaches / dizzyness / sleepiness / stiff neck while driving your new MINI?
>>just curious.
Hey Katana, no headaches or sleepiness, although it seems that during te weekend I have contracted a cold virus and have almost zero energy to do anything including driving and working. Today is one of those days I wish I could be sleeping instead, which is not the usual me.
I love the new car smell in my MCS but the chemicals used may cause allergic reactions in some people, is that why you ask?

This is this other thread about people getting headaches when they first got the car.
I had the headache everytime I drove, so that's why I was interested in finding out if anyone else had a similar issue. My suspicion is that the small windshield is making people car sick, while others have suggested the "new car smell", plastic outgasing, could be the cause. Either way, I don't have that problem anymore, so either my car has finished outgasing, or I got used to the small windshield and don't get motion sickness anymore.
I am just curious how common this is. Since we all had our car for less than one month, I figured this would be the perfect place to ask.

the first time i drove my MCS was from chicago and it was a long trip and my right leg cramped somewhat. i just had to get the adjustments right so my leg wasnt streched and get used to the possition. its absolutly fine now though
1 Month Report
I've had Rosie for a full month now. She had 8 miles on her when I picked her up and now has 2, 213. I love this car!!! I am a cautious driver, I drive spirited but not hard. The DSC has only blinked at me once when rounding a tight turn and catching some gravel. My top speed, are you ready for this... 95mph
I've calculated that I'm getting just over 26 miles per gallon at this point. My best tank was 29 mpg and my worst was 24.
The attention this car attracts is just unbelievable. Not a day goes by without heads turning, people stopping and looking and asking questions, or people driving by and flashing the thumbs up at me. It's a hoot.
At this point I really don't know of anything I would change. The cloth seats are really comfortable, love the heated seats! I love my CR/B color combo, the 17" wheels look great and aren't a terrible ride.
Overall I'm looking forward to many happy years with Rosie.

>>I think the dizziness feelings may also be amplified when you are driving with the seat in the highest position.
Yup, I totally agree with you Cooper4us! Are you speaking from experience?
After I noticed getting the headache, I immediately lowered my seat about 4 "cranks" of the handle.
That's why I think it really is people getting car sick, not "outgasing".....

No headaches but these sport seats are giving me weird hip joint pain on drives longer than just a few minutes. No seat, in a car or otherwise, has ever affected me that way and I have no history of hip problems (am in my mid thirties). Very odd. No idea why it occurs, hope the discomfort goes away.

Here are some pics i took after i wash my baby!

Just picked up my MINI on 10/31. I have had headaches since I picked it up. I have had it less than a week now and seem to be still getting headaches. I think it's the fumes. I am not a person who has ever been car-sick and I don't get headaches normally. I'm hoping that the issue goes away as I love to drive it but pay for it later with a dull aching head. And now the weather is cooling down so I can't ride with the sunroof open like I have been since Friday.
I'm baffled why this supposed headache stuff is just now coming up. Since being on here (MCO/NAM), only in the past week have I heard of headache complaints from new deliveries. In both my MCS's, I've had none of this problem, nor have I ever heard of anyone else in MMMC having this problem. The MINI's windshield being small is a horrible excuse - forward visibility is excellent. Ride stiffness may contribute - most people are used to their squishy SUV's and the like, and not getting their brain tossed around. Noxious fumes from plastic outgassing - possible, but not likely to start occuring now, well over 18 months into the chassis cycle!
On another note - '04 BCM (body control module) woes. Found out my windshield/headlight washer system is, um, strange. One time per ignition, I pull the washer, and both the windsheid and headlights spray. I can do this twice, and after that, only the windsheild sprays, but no wiper action, and no headlight anything. Strange! By the way, the rear wiper and washer works normally. I'm still annoyed at the unlock weirdness too. We should be able to press and hold the wings and the windows should almost immediately roll down until we release the button. I'm on an investigation with my dealership to figure out these BCM issues.

This is what I could figure out about my windshield/headlight washer.....
One time per ignition, the first time I activate the washer, if the headlights are on (that means xenon for me, not DRL), both washers spray. Windshield wipers wipe as well. For subsequent washes, I could get the windshield to spray for four or five seconds, and the wiper just won't move. Finally after 5 sprays or so, the headlight spray activates again. In a way, I kind of like the ability to spray without wiping. Since we get so many bugs on the windshield, it is very nice to be able to spray a whole lot of fluids on the windshield. The "auto-wiping" when I spray never wipes long enough to get rid of the fluid, so I'd prefer being able to control it on my own...... But Ryan, if you figure anything out with your dealer, let us know.
The headache issue - if you have it, it is a big problem; if you don't have it, for the life of you you won't be able to understand why people are complaining about it. I had it at first, and from the symptons I knew I was getting motion sickness. I sucked it up and went out to drive more. I've trained my brain to get used to it, so I don't get the headache anymore. I thought it was just me. But then a few days ago reggie1 posted a thread about getting a headache, I was like, wow, there is someone else with this problem, and I thought I was the only one. I think most people would not have associated this headache with the new car, so those that got it probably didn't make the connection.
I have always been interested in motion sickness (being a pilot and got sick during flight training is a good motivation I guess - never fly on an EMPTY stomach!) The symptoms are headache at first, and if it is more severe, you throw up. The reason we get motion sickness is that your brain is receiving conflicting signals. What your vestibular (sp?) system is feeling and what your eyes are seeing do not agree with each other. The only natural reason for this to occur is if you had eaten something poisoneous, so you get a headache, and wants to throw up. In the MINI, because the roof goes so far forward, a larger part of your field of view does not move with the vehicle motion. This is what confuses the brain. As Cooper4us suggested, by lowering your seat, you get to see more of the outside world in that region of your field of view, and it should help. The first thing I did after I noticed the headache was to lower my seat by about half. That, plus driving a lot more, trained my brain to understand this is "normal", and I did not get poisoned, and therefore there is no need to throw up.
Okay that's probably way more than anyone wants to know about motion sickness.....

This is what I said about the headaches in the "headache" thread.
I said something like: It smells so weird because of the material they put on the car to protect it from the salt water. < is what my MA told me and it makes since so take what you will from it.
