Since in Florida all we get (Thankfully) is rain and sunshine (With the occasional tornado or hurricane thrown in) both MINIs are driven year round.

I just checked the Oceanweather.com website and the Jingu Maru's call sign can be seen in the North Atlantic, getting a bit closer to newfounland in Canada. Actually seems to be half way between Europe and North America.

Check it out!

These are the last reported positions for the Jingu Maru:

Sep-15-2003 06:00 49 48' N 35 W JPPT JINGU MARU 5.1 9.9 WSW N/A N/A N/A
Sep-15-2003 12:00 49 30' N 37 12' W JPPT JINGU MARU 9.0 17.6 SW N/A N/A N/A

Can anyone pinpoint the exact location of the vessel based on the data above?

If you can get the lat/long of a known place (NYC) then use some basic trig from this site http://academic.brooklyn.cuny.edu/ge.../lat_long.html

you can calculate the distance...

I've done this before... its rough distances but it works... something like 69 miles per degree or somethin'

I called MINI while walkin home from class and the guy said I went into body shop yesterday and should be done this friday. Hopefully I make the Taishan, otherwise it's the takasago 3 days later and it wont get the charleston till the 10th :???: . Of course this is all assuming that my baby, whose name I better start thinking of, finishes up on friday. I dont know how reliable he is, but that is the ESTIMATED PRODUCTION DATE he's going by so I'm hoping it's done earlier. How long does it usually take from body shop to finished building? I cant see it taking more than one day per stage (body, paint, assembly, whatever else is left...). I'll just have to call on wednsday and find out.

It only takes a couple of days...then the next stage of WAITING begins, GETTING ON A SHIP!

Status update for my MINI- 155 on 9/9 (3 days early! Woo Hoo!) Still sitting at the PORT on 9/15...booked on the Don Quijote which is scheduled to depart 9/24 for CA. (So much for getting ahead with the 3 day early completion!)

How long after a mini is finished should it show up as being booked on a ship? On Friday, my mini was ready to go to the docks, but I'm not booked yet.

I'm just very impatient now.

I'm with you on the impatient part! It took a few days to show up on the WW site. Try entering your entire VIN OR just the last 7 characters when you look it up. I'm tracking two MINI's and one is listed under the last 7 the other is listed under the entire VIN. No consistency there either!

Hi Ryan - just a quick update on my Jet blk/wht rf MC. Last Thursday (9/11) my mini was put in the "released - waiting for transport" status.

I tried http://www.wlna.com (Wallenius Wilhemsen transport tracking) an hour ago, but my pond ship has not been designated as yet. No response there to my VIN.

Good luck and speed to all!

John

We're also booked on the Don Quijote with 2Karla and OlyMini! It's starting to become a reality now, maybe it has for you folks already, but after being on the list for 6 months, it seems just over the horizon and never quite happening. Now I've got to hurry up and finish my garage project!!!!! We'll pick our car up in Portland, Oregon so I suppose it gets transported by truck from CA to Oregon and Washington. That's got to take a few days......so what do you northwest people think, ready for pick-up by Friday Oct 24th? This would be slower than the 1 month from production to delivery estimate but I can't imagine the inspections, hauling and dealer prep getting done faster than that but I'm completely guessing here.

i think that the hurricane will affect my car on the TAI SHAN. the boat heads out on the 20th and the hurricane will have died for the most part but still continue to be a big disturbance heading up the north atlantic. its supposed to make landfall on thurday and move on and that would make it head up the atlantic for the next few days and the boat leaves around then so it could affect the 8 day crossing maybe a little. everyday counts

Count me in for the CWFO Club. Of course, there isn't much longer to wait, is there? I wish I had found this site earlier, it may have made the long wait a little easier.

Just called ASKMINI and am in the paint shop. Woo hoo! Getting close now.

Hello all. This is my first post in the CWFO club...(I've been popping in from time to time in the November Club). This sounds like a real cool place to hang out!

I don't have my VIN yet, but I do have an estimated production date of 9/26. I also know (from ASK MINI) that my status is 112. I live in Los Angeles, so I'm hoping to see my MINI before the end of October. If I'm lucky, my MINI may be done sooner and possibly get onto one of the ships leaving the week of 9/22. I believe its the Don Quixote??? Probably not... but a guy can dream!

How long does it usually take to get onto a ship after production is completed? Anyone else here in Southern California?

- Jet
