X signed MINI

So i go over to my friends house and exene is on the phone???
john doe is in the back yard and d.j. bonebrake is in the kitchen
and MINI is outside

I grab a sharpie
and ask them to sign mini
john doe almost drives her but they had to go

my question is how do I preserve these signatures?
you can see from the photo the signatures are on the dash front
it was a permanent sharpie pen

 

Best way might be to remove the section of dash and have it clearcoated. Not sure if this is the only, or best way, but seems like it would work. May want to have it tested to make sure the ink doesn't do something odd when the clearcoat hits it.

 

I would say a couple of light coats of spray lacquer would do the trick.

Either remove the trim or do some really good masking.

 

You might try a test area to lacquer first just to make sure it doesn't dissolve your dash and ruin everything -signatures and all. Interesting thing. Get celebrities to sign your dash board? Hmm. Who do I know that could possibly be anyone important enough to sign my dash?

 

THAT IS SO COOL!!! Exene is the one of the most original singers ever, period. So are they still making albums, or what? I haven't seen anything since Hey Zeus (which I actually liked).

My Los Angeles / Wild Gift CD is in permanent rotation. It is a staple in my life.

aw too bad you didnt get handsome rob to sign your mini! I wanted marky mark or napster to sign mine but they werent at the paramount premier! I saw a MINI at the big bear meet that had mike myers sig in it.

 

Ah Seth Green was at the premier....

But he left as fast as he arrived.

I think the cast recieved Free Mini's.

Don't really know what they're up to album-wise, but they're definitely still touring. We're going to see them here in Denver next month :smile:

Should be a blast - I've never seen 'em before. Hopefully by then I'll be able to take my MINI to the show!

 

A clear coating of some sort will work. But, be careful and do a test somewhere else as some coatings may actually cause the Sharpie ink to bleed.

Saw them last night, great show! This was the second time I've seen them and they haven't lost anything from when I saw them ohh 16 or 17 years ago.

 

I don't know whether the clearcoat will work or not. I suppose you can always try a clear film instead. But whichever method you use I suggest you get a sunshade to put up when you are parked keep the signatures from fading.

BTW, I must be way too old 'cause I don't have a clue who you're talking about!
