R50/53 So many colors to choose from.
I put an order on a 2003 mini, should be coming in October. Black seems to be the best in my opinion. It makes the plastic border on the fenders blend in to the rest of the car. I also considered dark blue, but we'll have to see. I have plenty of time to change it if i change my mind. Anyone have any suggestions?
Here's MHO on colors:
Black/CosmosBlack is very nice, masculine and luxurious...when it's clean and shiny, but dark cars usually look dirty quicker. If you left it out in the rain and it dried on its own, the watermarks will be more obvious than a lighter colored car. Paint chiips also show more.
Pure Silver or Dark Silver - Can't really go wrong. Any silver car looks good. Silver cars are easier to resell. But out of all the colors I see this on a majority of the Minis.
Chili Red/Indi Blue - Best colors that look good in stripes and two-toned. Doesn't red cars attract cops attention and increase insurance rates more than any other color?
Velvet Red - If you want something unique you might want to pick this color. I heard they are discontinueing it. Looks brown at night.
Pepper White - Now that's a classic sharp looking color. I would have picked that if I had seen it in person.
British Racing Green - Too bad it wasn't true BRG.
Electric Blue - My first initial choice. Exclusive on the S though (along with DS)
Liquid Yellow - Nice bright color. Good color for safety. Looks good in either tw-tones. I would have liked to see a more mustard yellow.
Two-toned...IMHO Minis were meant to be tw-toned.
The end result is that it is a personal choice. Get the color that you like and see it in person on a car, not in a brochure or on a swatch. If it weren't for the Silk Green in the dealer showroom, I wouldn't have picked it.

>>You could always have the trim painted body color!
Very Nice! Did they have to smooth out the textured bumps first or did the layers of paint smooth it out on its own? It will be interesting on how it holds up (chipping/painting) after some good amount of motoring under its belt. But it does take care of the wax problem with the unpainted flairs.
AH YES, the stripes are the icing on thecake.

All of the colors look great on this car. That being the case, I chose Liquid Yellow for my MCS - and I've been very happy with the results.
Here's how I decided: Then MINI is a very small car, so I wanted the largest visual signature possible - that's yellow. Black is beautiful, but has the smallest visual presence.
Good luck.

The problem is...all the colors are great! I have a friend with an all-black S...awesome. Mine is IB/W...awesome. Another frind has a DS/W S...awesome. Another with a CR/W....awesome. I do agree that the visual effect is somewhat different between darker and lighter colors in relation to the black trim....but which is better????? Yes, think it through, and in the end, just make the best choice you can based on your own personal reasons. You'll be thrilled!!!!

So the answer is obvious...a black car with yellow racing stripes...that way the black gives a small visual presence (for the police) but a large visual signature (for safety.)
