Clutch noise at launch?

Okay, help me out before I go to the SA next week so I don't let them talk me out of a possible repair issue. Any time my MCS has been sitting
for 8+ hours and then driven, the first 5-11 releases of the clutch
produces a noise. I can only describe the noise as the sound your car
makes after it has just been washed and the brakes are applied. Like a
rubber on metal sound. Maybe like a gum based eraser across glass, I
don't know. From what I can hear (with the windows down) the sound only
happens when leaving a stoplight under light acceleration. As I said
roughly the first 5-11 times. I thought it may have been a brake noise until I was able to slow to a light w/o the brakes and heard the same noise.

Noise

I have the exact same noise. I was also going to take my MINI in and have service look at it. I didn't hear this noise when I first got the car, only after about 4000ish miles. I have a little over 7000 on the car now. How many miles are on your car? Mine is an 06 MCS. Thanks!

My car gets driven alot! Approx 45K on a 2005. No other clutch issues than a new slave cylinder.

noise

My 02 MCS did that. The dealer replaced the dual mass flywheel under warranty. No more problem.

Interesting! I had made the typical complaint about rattling in idle that is caused by the flywheel and they said it was fine and would probably rattle with a new one. When you took yours in, was the flywheel replaced because of the noise we mentioned, the rattle in neutral, or both?

Thank you! I had tried searching, but apparently not with the right criteria.

Follow up...

Just a quick follow up...Long Beach MINI was able to reproduce the sound, so I got a new clutch and dual mass flywheel installed today all under warranty. Lets see if that fixes the problem.

See my post on this in an earlier thread at https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...95#post1707495.

Then again, mine is doing it again barely two months later, so I may have to go through the rigmarole all over. . . .
