Asian markets yet?

 

If you go to http://www.mini.com you will find 'Planet Mini' and you can click on flags for several national sites ... like this one : http://www.mini.jp/mini.html ... you just have to be able to read the language!

 

They sell in China, bur I don't know about the rest of the locations. List price for a Cooper with Leather runs about $50,000 US. Ouch!

 

I was in Japan last decmeber and I saw a lot of MINIs and even more classic Mini's. Theyre very popular there. I saw a BMW dealer in tokyo and the MINI dealer was in the basement, that was kinda weird.

i was also in the Philippines in december and I was surprised to see a MINI in a exotic car dealership in Manila. They also had a very nice classic mini too. The classic minis are very popular there. They had a MCS on display at one of the malls there too.

Not sure about Korea but I know there are a lot in Hong Kong.

 

Yep, saw 3 MINIs last July in Japan (I actually have one on video, but have been too lazy to get a screen grab..)... and a LOT of classic Mini look-alikes....

rfibanez.. are you sure you saw a lot of classic minis? there are a LOT of cars that look like classic minis in Japan.. I swear, Diahatsu (sp?) makes about 3 different knock-off models... because in almost two weeks of heavy travel, I didn't see one actual classic Mini...

rocketboy x I did see a lot of classic minis there, like over 20 in a few days. I also saw all those diahatsu and suzuki mini knock offs. I know a classic mini when I see one and I saw quite a bit. I even saw a really nice black with white top classic mini for sale at a used car dealer for $1500!!! Where in Japan where you? I was mostly in Tokyo and yokohama and there were a lot there. My cousins neighbor there even has a Mini.

 

I was in Japan in November last year and saw TONS of classic Mini's in Tokyo and yes, they were classic Mini's. I only saw one MINI and no S's

 

There was a thread about 6 months ago where a military person was talking about buying a MINI where he was stationed in Korea. I also see many pictures about new MINI’s and after market parts in Japan. On MCO you can see commercials made in Japan for their market. Bottom line is yes, they are sold there.

Maybe I was just in the wrong neighborhoods! But let's see... I was in Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Kurashiki, and finally Osaka. (*phew*)...

I did see plenty of those but there were an awful lot of classic Mini's there...and I never saw a junker.

 

yup I saw a lot of those and no I didnt confuse them with the classic mini. It made me kinda mad seeing all those mini knock offs. couldnt rover sue those companies or something?

Heh heh.. it was getting tiring living out of a suitcase after a while... but we did spend a lot of time in a bus... that was some fun car watching.. heh heh...
