Tinting the Cooper: Tampa window tint recommendations / suggestions?

Hi all. Looks like my Cooper should be here sometime next week. One of the first things I want to do is to get the windows tinted (not only will it look sweet, it will help with that hot Florida sun).

Does anybody have any recommendations for where to get my Cooper tinted in the Tampa Bay area?

I thought I read in another thread to be careful since the door windows automatically go down when opening, some installers have a tough time with the application to the doors.

Also what tint percentage do you recommend? I think the legal FL limit is 35%- front 20%- back.

Any pictures of tinted coopers (preferably red/white?

This may sound heretical, but call George Rico at Courtesy Toyota in Brandon. He's done 2 MINIs for me & he's a classic Mini owner. He manages their accessory install shop. If he can't fit you in maybe his installer can do it as a side job or refer you to another? He does perfect work. BTW, I went 20% all way round.

 

 

I'm in New York and I went with 20% on the rears and 35% on the sides, just to make it look like I was trying to be "legal". Looks great !!

Thanks Minimad. So you recommend 20% all around? Do you ever find it too dark and night, or have you ever had a problem with the cops? How much did it run you for the tint job?

I'm going to have my MCS tinted the same day/week she arrives in two more weeks. Where do you live, I can hook you up with a tint shop owner that'll give you a great deal. I'll call him to see if he'll give you the same deal as I'm gonna get.

Thanks Pooky13! I think I’ll take you up on that! I live in Carrollwood, but I don’t mind traveling a little to get a good install at a good price.

Try Koolkote on Park Blvd. in Pinellas Park. Tranh(the owner/installer)
is a great guy. Tell him you know me for a great deal. He has done 3
Minis for me..he did Minclos car when she was here and another few on
this board. PM me for more info..... He'll be doing Mully1217s car soon
as well. He does work for many of the area dealers on their new cars..
Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, etc....
