Boost

I want to install boost gauge and Air/Fuel ratio in my car. I dont want to spend 150 buck for the alta pods and what not. Is there a cheaper solution?
thanks,
Justin

You could have someone make a simple pod out of some aluminum tube...

...here it is finished...

I just use the ScanGaugeII to supplement these gauges...

Helix sells a simple bracket ($40) for the AM 2-1/16" gauges. You don't need any cups, just mask off the face, bezel... and paint the rest black. There are some examples in the "show your gauges" thread.

I don't think you can get AFR form the OBD port, not with a narrow band O2 anyway.

The scangauge tells you whether you're open or closed loop. Open would be faults or startup, closed and you'll have basically a constant voltage-the computer should be using the O2 sensor data to adjust AF to keep it within a certain range.

Why do you need AF readout?

It has since been cleaned up a bit and and I redrilled the bracket to get a better grip on the gauge cup. I don't really like my setup though, so I'm going to start thinking of something new to do.

I went with the Autometer "carbon fiber" boost gauge since I have the dark gray replacement gauge faces:

ImagoX, whenever you get a chance could you snap a shot of the back of your tach so I can see exactly how you have it setup?

Thanks.

Sure... this is one of the "long" gauge brackets - can't remember where I got it exactly but check the Stickied thread at the top of the Electrical forum- there are several links to it in there. The wires and vacuum hard line are wrapped in expandable black nylon sheathing (the same stuff I use to reinforce and stealth wires in PCs).
