Gauges...finally

I must have had these sitting around for close to a year, I just got done installing them today. It was rather involved making the adapters for the senders, but they came out nice. I still have to find the wire for the factory dash lights so I can wire them up correctly.

Thanks, that's kinda why I wanted to do it that way, because I haven't seen it either. The pod is homemade and was really pretty easy.
Find the gray w/ red stripe wire in the thick harness next to the clutch pedal and tap into that. It's the gauge illumination wire, controlled by the dimmer:

Despite the number of wires in that harness, the wire is usually found near the outside of the bundle. This source/wire can be found all over the dash and console, wherever there is an illuminated gauge or control. Tap wherever convenient, the area shown above is actually the easiest. Toughest part is picking the wire from the bundle.

Yes, the gauges look great.
now, you need to join the club and put a few on the pillar.
Ive found the easiest to get to is the non functioning illumination wire for the cig lighter. i run all my gauges off that illumination wire.
same colors as the other ones in the car, so i assume its all the same circuit.

my "lighted Cig surround" doesnt light up.
theres no led in it!
the clip lugs into nothing, its the wierdest thing ive seen on the car. like it was planned to be there, but it wasnt ever gone forth with.
it pops out but doesnt go back in, lol. i just put a block off cover over it, since the power no runs the CB instead of the cig lighters.

The factory sender hole. Use a 3/8" pipe thread nipple, 1" long(maybe 1 1/2" i'll check), get a female tee, grind off the "T" part, run a tap down it. Screw the nipple in the block, screw on the tee so the part you ground off is on the side, put the factory sender in the end and your gauge sender in the tee.

Yea thanks, but I don't think so.
Pfft. That's nothing. Here's a pic of the dash of my mothballed baby. I did the dash around 1985. The car has sadly been sitting around collecting dust since about '94. Perhaps one day I will drag it out and start working on it again. I wont say what kind of car it is, see if y'all can guess.

There is more that can't be seen in these pictures. I gotta dig around for more. Yes, I was crazy like that in my youth.

When one has a cantankerous, twin four barrel, 500hp big block engine under the hood, one needs all the info about it and control over it as possible!
