How to keep floor mats from slipping?
Any ideas on how to keep the standard dealer floor mats from riding forward? My ol' VW came with grommets in the mats and studs attached to the floor. Right now I've got a three strips of "industrial strength" Velcro attached to the rubber heel rest on the floor and the corresponding underside of the mat, but since it's heating up, the adhesive is loosening and the whole mess is slipping again. Any suggestions?
Unless you are in love with the mats, I'd give Jeff a call at www.cocomats.com
They won't slip a milimeter. They have little nubs on the bottom that sink into the factory carpet and they look wonderful.

The factory mats come with plastic velcro anchors that screw into the carpet. I have two cars ( a combined 200k miles) both with the stock mats and they have not moved an inch in four years. I think some of the anchors are making thier way to the trash.

I got mine free with the car, they have the velcro pads on the back, but nothing else, I guess I didn't get the clips that go into the carpet. Usually they have to be moved back about twice a week.
You may be able to order the carpet anchors separately, or ask you dealer if they have any. If they're not installing them, they may have a stash of them somewhere, or they should at least be willing to hold onto the next set that comes in.
if you want a temporary solution, you could always try a rug gripper. you use them in your home to keep your rugs from moving and bunching up, its a rubbery mesh material that grips to a lot of surfaces, you just place them below your rugs, or floormats in your case. I have never tried it with floor mats, but its a cheap suggestion that may work until you can save up for new mats. oh yeah...it is also used in kitchen cabinets to keep dishes in place.
I've also seen folks use hat pins and those big T-shaped pins successfully - inserted at a very shallow angle pointing forward, through the back of the mat and through the carpet underneath...
my mats came with those too, and mine havent moved since I got the car
i have the same problem, i just took mine out for now. i found a better solution that i like, and i kinda like the look too. we just got some nice **** type carpet put in in our new house. its tan, but i used it anyways. i cut it to fit in the floor area, and needless to say, i take my shoes off everytime i drive. its very comfertable at red lights to just rest my feet on it. lol
