Man can you believe it.......

I walk outside today to drive to work and think, ummm something looks different on my mini.

Then I see what it is, someone has stolen all 4 of the covers from the center of my wheels! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

I have the standard Cooper S wheels, not the S-Lites, so these covers are quite large and my poor mini looks kind of naked without them!!!!

Anyone know a good source to get a hold of another set?

Cheers.

That sucks.

Have the cops come over and try to lift any fingerprints from your wheels.

Yeah I mean seriously, what are they going to do with them?

They only fit mini wheels.

ROFL! .

This is LA man... first off, it's over 2 hours once you call the police for them to actually arrive (I'm talking full blown 911 call here, not hey someone stole my hubcaps).

Second off, in the real world, not CSI, it's a bit more involved than dusting the tires for prints and taking them to "Greg" in "The Lab", scanning them into a computer, and pressing "Search". If you can even get someone to come out and take a police report (They'll most likely just do it over the phone), there's a good chance you'll never even hear from anyone again.

Sorry if it seems harsh, but it's true.

This really sucks, and I hope you find out who did it, but I doubt you will . On the brighter side, it's an excuse to buy a new set of wheels . Depending on what your insurance deductable is, they may cover a portion of it since it was stolen.

Yeah I am going to call in the police report if only to let them know and get the odd police car down the street at night.

I am actually in SF now, should change my profile.

The replacements from min are pretty steep, like 40 bucks each.

Insurance is not really an option as it is so much less than he deductable.

Ahh well.

Steal your own rims then claim that on insurance I'd sit by the front window and wait for them to come back. They're just teenagers with nothing better to do than make people mad. They'll be back

Good thing you added that wink. Otherwise, I'd have to keep an eye on YOU.

By the way, for everyone out there who ever seriously considered insurance fraud: We (insurance companies) are getting more sophisticated and spending big money to catch you (because you cost us a lot of money and cause everyone else's premiums to go up). Beware.

Look on eBay for a local seller with a set of 4 for sale. I'd bet that person doesn't have a MINI...

Do you mean the hub caps for X-Lites, like item #4 (part# 36131512572) here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...=36&fg=15&hl=8

I have purchased them before and they were $7.75 each MSRP or $6.20 with NAM discount from Classic MINI.

This is San Francisco, where in some parts of the city there's a MINI (or two, or three) on every block. The thief had an easy choice of targets and the original poster was unlucky. Honestly though, I don't know what somebody would do with these hub caps. Even for a MINI owner it would be very unusual to want 4 of them.

I will try and get some, I was going with the oh it doesn't look that bad attitude, but really, it does look like something is really missing.

Now where do these come from, they would go with my checkerboard roof pretty well...............................

Of and I am checking ebay and craigslist but yeah in SF there are so many mini's, there are 3 parked on my block, they still have their hub caps though.

I can't find a good pic right now, but I've seen pictures on NAM. This one is from dave (Dave Bunting) but it is a distant shot.

The X-Lites look good without hubcaps when black lugs are used. If the car came with the yellow/gold lugs it wouldn't look right (replacing with black lugs is relatively inexpensive). Without a center cap, you'll also want to either paint the exposed hub or otherwise keep it clean and free of rust.

If you have X-Lite rims, it takes only a few seconds to pull off a hubcap and see for yourself how it looks.
