New Portland area MCS owner checking in
Hey all, I see that this forum doesn't have the highest traffic of this site, but I thought I'd check in and introduce myself anyway. I just traded in my 06 Ford F-150 SuperCrew 4x4 monster of a gas hog for this 08 Pure Silver Sport at Suburban Ford in Sandy. The sales guy told us that the people that owned it before us traded it in on a new truck, which I thought was funny (carbon footprint = wash). We needed a new commuter car badly, with my wife working downtown and me working in Beaverton. I won't shock you
with the pure waste of money we were spending on gas every month, which made this decision all that much easier.
I gotta say, in the short amount of time that we've owned this car, it has gotta be the most fun on four wheels I've ever had. We immediately found pdxmini.org and look forward to joining and meeting up and getting to know some of you at events in the future.
If you see us driving around, be sure to wave!

Hey welcome! Look at that, more activity in this forum (PDX Mini Club) than it's seen in months, all thanks to a couple newbs! Hopefully we can help breathe some life back into this place :-) . Of course all the folks that have been around a while are probably too busy actually driving their cars to check and post on this forum. For me, when I'm not driving my Mini, I'm reading and learning all I can about it. It's a super fun car because I keep learning new things about it that I've never seen on any other car I've ever owned.
Got this in my inbox today, little cut & paste-age for you. I will likely register just to see how it turns out. For track time @ PIR $99 is a bargain.
"Rasmussen MINI has arranged this special opportunity for our customers (sales or service). Limited to 100 participants, we expect the spots to fill quickly, so register soon. Because the day’s focus will be on getting to know how MINI’s drive, stop and turn, MINIs will be given registration priority. Others will be welcome if space is available.
The price for the day is $99 per car.
The day will include driver training highlighting weight transfer, vehicle dynamics, and the safety features of your MINI, plus an autocross, time on the track with instructors, and a 2 1/2 hour fun rally. Professional driver training, helmets, and insurance is being provided by Autosports.
Rasmussen MINI will host a BBQ lunch."

I too traded in an '06 F-150 SuperCrew 5.4 for my first MINI. I miss it when it's time to go pick out a Christmas tree but other than that...I'm golden. Congrats! Hope you enjoy many years of fun & happy MINI motoring excitement. Next step - your wife will want a MINI and you guys will be a 2-MINI family too!
