Yup! PSmini! I just joined

There might be one for Portland/Oregon as well, I'm not sure. Check the Pacific NW boards here at NAM.

Wagnbat -

I can give you some info on the areas. (Not the MINI side, as I didn't get mine until I get here. Shame, really, as the roads out there are great for driving!)

Stationed there from Dec 2001 to Dec 2003. Left with a proverbial gun to my head....

Cool! I love Washington. Moved here myself a few years ago. Both of those locations are beautiful.. I love driving on Whidbey Island in the summer. My only complaint is that the water is SO COLD !

Though the heat wave of late is making me want to jump into the frigid waters anyway..

What are the average water temps during the spring and summer?

Apparently around 50 degrees. CHILLY!

I tried swimming in the ocean when I first moved out here and couldn't believe how cold the water was. I thought it was cold up in Maine on the east coast, but that was practically tropical in comparison..

Wagnbat,

I am retired Navy and have lived in Puget Sound for 12 years now. If you have any questions about the area, the bases or anything else(oh yea MINI Club stuff also) drop me PM and I will give you my email address and we can communicate about your issues. Since you said you are looking at Oak Harbor or Port Orchard, so you must be looking at orders to Whidbey or Bremerton, sounds better than Japan.

Indeed. My #1 preference would be Whidbey, at an EOD support unit. My #2 would be Whidbey anything else. #3 is Bremerton. #4 is everett. #5 is Hawaii.

They all sound better than Japan.
