Hello everyone! We have been working hard to bring you a GREAT event for the first of the year. Combined with Rasmussen MINI and several prize sponsors such as MINI Cooper Online and MINI-Madness, we have put together a fun rally in the Forest Grove area of Oregon.

This will be a fun, non TSD (Time Speed Distance) rally with prizes based on questions you'll answer throughout the drive. The course starts in Forest Grove OR at the McMenamin's Grand Lodge. From there you will set out for an adventure filled with old hiways, back country roads, crazy twisties and of course ...FUN!!

Since you will be anwsering questions based on what you are seeing as you drive around and following turn by turn directions, a navigator is a must for this event.

The course is roughly 100 miles long and should take about 2 to 2.5 hours to complete.

The details:

WHEN?
Sunday January 19th, 2003 at 11:30am
Please check in when you arrive at the Rasmussen tent. We will be launching cars in in twos starting at 12:30pm.

WHERE?

Looks like we're up to about 15 cars already, and Rasmussen just sent out their invites to all their many, MINI customers.

Motor on, and see y'all in Forest Grove on the 19th!!

If you think that "nav" agator system is hot, I think I can find my Halda Rallyemaster Computer System somewhere. I'll hook that up and then watch out!!

How much lead time on the course notes are they going to give us, anyone know?

The course directions will be given out RIGHT before you leave. Like minutes. They are turn by turn directions. Some parts have some clues to the road...like "at the yellow flashing light". Others are just "right on Dilley". The course directions have been tested several times to make sure they are not difficult or confusing. Should just be good fun letting the piece of paper take you on a great drive.

Have fun this weekend, fellow Northwest motorers!! I'd be joining you in Forest Grove if I wasn't going to be on an airplane headed to the East Coast for work.

Motor On!!

I'm looking forward to it. I've got a couple of what might be dumb questions about the rally. First of all, I've looked everywhere and haven't seen any mention of an entrance fee. Does this mean that it's free? If not, I'd like to know how much cash to bring down.

Also, what should I bring? I mean, I'm bringing my video camera... but what else will I need? Is there anything that I don't have to have, but would be nice?

And the shindig afterward, same thing, who's paying? If it's me, I'm totally okay with it, but just want to have enough cash... I'd hate to be there looking red in the face in a "Sorry, Sir, we don't take American Express" moments.

Davbret: Great job organizing this rally. Pls. post pics and any links to video. We'll all appreciate it.

I'm in the early planning stages of "The Wolfe Island Canada MINI Meet" for next fall. I know the work involved in these events. Great job, congratulations and ENJOY!!

The only thing you'll need cash for is if you need gas for your MINI (about a 100 mile course) and if you want booze at the party. Otherwise everything is paid for. No entrance fee.

I wanted to be the first to congradulate Ryan, the rest of PDXMINI, Rasmussin MINI and all the sponsors for a great event today. Fantastic weather, great roads, a great place to meet and a little confusion thrown in for good measure

Congrats on what sounds like a great day. If the winners of the MINI Swag prizes need help on redeeming them please shoot me a message.

Sorry I missed this one. Sounds like it was huge!

Let me add my congratulations to Ryan and the folks from Rasmussen for orchestrating a very enjoyable day. Everyone I spoke with had nothing but praise for the day, and some of the roads were so seductive we were compelled to double back so we could drive them a second time! Thanks for a great day.
