Dustin, I haven't driven one. I have seen a few reviews and they've been lukewarm at best.

The Fusion isnt really a warmed over Mazda6. I've drien both and they feel like different cars. The Fusion's platform was updated, it's not simply a re-badged Mazda. The Fusion is larger, has a much better interior, better build quality, etc.
Ford changed the CD3 platform from the Mazda6 by stretching it 1.2" in in width and 2.2" in length, strengthening it, and modifying the suspension for a more compliant ride. Like the Mazda, the Fusion uses the Mazda-designed 2.3 4 banger and Ford-designed 3.0 L V6. They have also added all-wheel drive. Other than that, it's nothing new and is based on a platform that Mazda is in the process of revamping.

I wouldnt say the 500/Freestyle were flops. They both had excellent fit and finish. I've driven both, and they feel well-made and have decent quality, modern interiors. The problem with them was the power and the styling. Both are getting Fords new (265 hp I believe?) V6 in the spring/summer, along with a facelift. This should help it some. Its a good car, just WAY too mundane to create any waves for Ford.
The new powerplant will help. Both models were released with woefully underpowered engines. After 2+ years with the dishwater 201 hp the 3.5L will really need to transform the car.........

Have you driven a new Tahoe? EXCELLENT vehicle. The GM900 suvs are SO far ahead of the rest of the class it's laughable. And I agree with you about the Expedition as well.
I've driven the new Suburban - excellent albeit large vehicle.

Look, GM is on the mend. Their trucks and SUVs and top notch, the Camaro will be a hit, the Vette rocks and the new line up looks promising. The problem is Ford is not.

The upcoming V8 RWD, Pontiac G8 sedan should go a long way in improving Pontiac's image, just like the Solstice roadster did.

Don't tell me they didn't see the new Camaro or the upcoming Pontiac G8 sedan?

Truth is, there is a lot of Detroit anti-bias in the main media. There are some in that establishment hell bent to condemn and put down Detroit no matter how good their new products are.

Also, the new Caddy CTS has been getting PLENTY of attention on auto forums. This year it seemed to me that GM owned the show. What did Honda debut? The ugly new Accord.

Not sure where that guy was coming from..
I agree. The new Honda Accord is a lousy effort at best. Japan, inc definetely rests on their laurels of a "glorious" past when Detroit produced nothing but garabage mobiles and they were the only game in town. Times have changed and the country of the rising sun need to take notice and fix their designs, pronto.

They may have been...it was on the evening news!!! Perhaps they were asking if he saw an inspired design that would help U.S. automakers regain a healthy market share. The exec (don't remember who it was) just said "no." He didn't look like he felt like elaborating either...I just remember thinking, "well okay then."
