Corolla Fun?
My friends mom drives one. He said the rev limiter sounds just like a weed eater...oh...did i say that
. Honestly, that engine is designed for low end torque, not high rpm performance. It just runs out of breath.

my wife had a 03. she was fine with it as she could careless about cars... to her it's about going from a to b.
my economy rental that i got at Miami earlier this week was a corolla. it
re-confirmed that i HATE that car. the steering position is like a friggen
van, seat position feels like im standing... there's nothing fun about that
car. controls for the stereo's like on the otherside of the room...it
does handle pretty well for a grocery getter and is reliable as
heck... but then, so is my civic. and the civic is much more fun
to drive as it feels more like a car.
corolla's one of the worst cars you can get for side impact crashes.
im very satisfied with our 06 legacy wagon.

I agree 100% with master Ninja Black Belt, Kenchan....
Last Year I also rented a "stripper" Canadian version '05 Toyota Corolla CE automatic with crank windows in Jasper, Alberta. I didn't care for the driving position either... It is akward to say the least. I could not get completely comfortable behind the wheel. The rest of the car was solid, but with materials on the cheap side. Radio sucked, but then again how many stations can you really pick up at the top of the Canadian Rockies?
The car was nothing special, just a Point A to Point B commuter. Gas mileage was good overall. I drove it in the most beautiful roads in the world and along the highest road in North America: The columbia Icefields Parkway that connects both Jasper and Banff. Needless to say we missed our MINIs a lot as those roads were clearly built for them. The scenery was breathtaking.
I promised myself that if I ever go back to Jasper (or Banff) and drive the Icefields Parkway again, it will be in my MINI.

I have had a Corolla. Was it "fun". No. Did I care? No. It did EXACTLY what it was designed to do, carry whatever from A to with low 30s mileage and comfortably (at least compared to a MINI). After seven years it NEVER saw the inside of a Toyota Dealer for anything ...
everyone can come on down bashing Corrollas if they want but it would seem to me FAR, FAR more Corollas are sold than MINI will ever sell ...

Well that's kind of like a Ferrari owner...

Years ago my brother had a Corolla S and it was a great car. But back then the S was completely different than the other Corollas even down to a completely different body style.
Today the S is just like any other Corolla with a spoiler on the trunk.
