We couldn't run forever!..
We couldn't run forever!..
without getting a speeding ticket.
Got pinched this weekend doing 74 in a 55, by some grumpy old statey... now I'm faced with a $190.00 ticket.
Anyone have any tips on how to beat a ticket?

p.s.-At least it took over a year to get the first one!

Bummer....I know the police have been out in force here in So Cal....sorry - I can't give you any tips on how to beat it...I guess at this point - if he was running radar - you don't have much of a choice..
Maybe you could take an on-line driving class to help with getting some points knocked off...

Doubt you can beat this one
, but a good quality radar will help alert you, mine has saved me several times
, I guess that only works in states where they are allowed though. Sorry to hear about your ticket though.

You could try to plead a no contest, and take the class. That way no points will be assessed and your fee will be lessened.

sorry to hear. it's tough going 55mph in interstates when most people are
going at least 70-75mph.
just bad luck i guess....
but it may have prevented you from getting into something much worse
if the cop hadn't pulled you over, so i'd look at it that way.

Pay it, go to traffic school so it does not show on your driving record.

Thanks for the posts...
FYI the officer was using LIDAR not radar so a radar detector wouldn't have done anything for me other than to let me know a half second sooner that I had a ticket...
Ironically the area in which this ticket was given (WB in Gardner on Rt 2 in MA) is about the most wide open, clear, easy to drive section of road in the state, so the speed was hardly excessive for the conditions. You could probably drive 150MPH through there and feel just fine. My view of the officer was blocked by a minivan in the right lane until it was too late.
In any case, I just called my insurance company and I guess this ticket is a freebee of sorts... a ticket would increase my insurance by 7% but Mass insurance rates are set to drop by 8% next year, so my insurance will still be cheaper next year!
I'll take this as a very gentle warning from above... and I'll pass it along to anyone else is MA.
Thanks everyone!

Yep, first one is usually always free. Second one aint. Third is a Killer
Good luck and make sure you go to court. You never know when somone might call in sick that day.
This is when you hire a traffic attorney and they pretty schedule the court date on the day the police officer is NOT working, and pretty much reschedule over and over on the days the officer is NOT working. Which means you only pay like $50 dollars for the attorney to be a pain in the butt for this guy (or woman) so you are found not guilty. Or at least that's how it works in my neck of the woods.
