THAT WAS AWESOME! Yes I had to yell because my ears are still ringing! I had my volume up way too loud!

Though I do think he was going just a touch beyond the posted limits on the Dragon!

I'd like to see this fellow try doing this while actually staying in his own lane like we have to do on the Dragon!

Ok, I admit it. . .sweet video!

Even if he DIDN'T have to stay in his own lane, there's no way that he could go anywhere near that fast on the Dragon... it's WAY more windy than the road he was on.

Cool video though.

Agreed! The Dragon would make one incredible rally stage! I'd pay a LOT to take a couple runs with the road closed at one end to make it a 1-way trip!

Did you catch his "shift-up" light and the gear indicator in the dash (look between the steering wheel spokes)? He/she was flipping through them gears!

What a rush - great camera position...

I certainly wouldn't be standing alongside the road watching like that - maybe from the top of the hill, but not on the side of the road.. geeeez..

Nice video!

That was awesome!

Ever go to an SCCA event? My dad drove Formula Ford and for awhile a D Sports Racer while I was growing up and that's always how I imagined it feels.

How $$$ much does a Skip Barber / Bondurant course run these days????

Okay - I live waaaay far away now, but when I lived in Ohio we drove through the Dragon on the way to Z3 homecoming. with the entire line of cars, we sacrificed 1 driver who had about a 30 sec. head start. He stayed in his lane but radioed to the rest of us the number, color and type of cars in the oncomming lane. it was very cool. I had both lanes and NEEDED it too. pushed too hard into a few corners and understeered into the oncomming lane.

too bad it is 2500 miles away. I'd love to get the MINI out on it. glad I bought the t-shirt.

Hey, Joe....I drive to the Dragon every spring (ever since the first MINI Meet there in 2003), and I fly east to motor there with MINI pals in the summer and the fall, so get with the program!

That racecar could do an awesome run on the baby Dragon, Hwy. 28, between Deal's Gap/Crossroads of Time and Fontana Village!

Any idea what kind of car it is in the video? It has to be very powerful, feels like there is atleast 500bhp

edit: digged around on the net, seems like this is a prototype racer, a Norma M20 3 liter BMW engine.

400 DIN HP or something? I can't really find the spec of this car.

I KNEW I was setting myself up for that ! for enthusiasts, it is never too far to drive! At the Z3, we had a couple drive from Alaska to South Carolina. So I wont rule out motoring cross country for some barbeque and a joust with the Dragon

Well, check out the Dragon threads in the National Events forum here on NAM and see all that goes on there with the MINIs.
