It's Da Bomb.....

And I heard from a very good source, that they are making a American version
with the same cool photography and tests.

I think the British personalities adds something to the show. I don't think they should mess with a good thing.

Yeah they do some editing for the U.S version of the show... apparently they think U.S viewers are not interested on what they really think about american autos. to the people who ever watched the original uk version then they know why. but the thing that sucks is that they tape new parts for the US version but they gave us the older reviews... i think the last season they had the cls, m6, and probably the new 997's.

Its nice for the BBC to redit the shows and play them in the US. Thats what they are . But I still like it, just wish it wasn't @ 10pm. I mean come on the British humor isn't that bad it needs to be on so late

I was reading on the BBC web page about two months back something Jeremy Clarkson wrote about making “Top Gear” for the US. He was saying the hardest part is he has to translate all the UK terminology to US terms so the audience will understand what he’s talking about.

I’ve not seen the US version, but am a huge fan of the UK show having lived there for years.

I don't think he should translate anything. I actually prefer UK english to US english. I think UK is spot on.

Once you see the REAL versions as they are broadcast there, the Discovery version will look like complete garbage. They LITTERALLY cut out 1/2 the show on Discovery. The Dicovery episodes are also 2-3 years old.

Download a Bit Torrent client if you don't have one such as ABC:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/p...b.exe?download

Then go to your favorite torrent listing site. The best one for Top Gear is www.mininova.org

Search for "top gear" at the top of the page and download all the episodes you want. Obviously you don't want the episodes listed as 'Discovery'. The real one hour versions are listed as UK. The notes such as [03x09] mean season 3, episode 9. Collect them all!

You may need to also install the Dixv CODEC if you don't have it (it will not play if you don't have it. Download it free from http://www.divx.com/divx/play/download/

yeah the UK version is much better but I still watch the one on discovery. I find that most of the car reviews on the discovery are just re-runs from the UK version. Also if you like Top Gear (and who doesn't!) then also download Fifth Gear. They are very similar. Enjoy.

Greatest Automotive Show on TV!!

They will ruin it by making a US version, which I could see turning into "Top Gear - NASCAR"

US version

Undoubtably the US version will have a 20 minute long guitar solo played in the background while people tack on bodywork and stickers to whatever poor car is being reviewed. I love Top Gear and 5th gear because it's obvious those people truly enjoy the cars and the chance to thrash them. They are also not afraid to tell you that a car isn't so good. Refreshing. I also love the slang and enthusiasm on those shows. Please don't Americanize them

I Love that Show!
What I like best is how they are not gentle with their criticism.
American shows & publications seem to focus on selling and are too polite when it comes to critiques.

Been watching it for years, a good portion of it from downloads of shows and/or the car review bits. I'm also a huge fan of 5th Gear - Tiff Needle is far and away my favorite reviewer/test driver.

Something tells me that we would prefer the UK version over the US one here.

Just about everything I wanted to say has been said about this show. I love the cars. I love the humor. I love how they love the MINI so. In fact the only part of the show I have to not listen to is their taste in appearance of cars. I'm sorry I know some of you might, but I just don't like cars that look like how I used to draw them in grade school (square all over..Scion (I forget the name) and Honda Element). Other than that it is great to watch this show.

Is it just me or can Jeremy NOT lose when it comes to those "Who got the best deal" contests they have? He always finds a way to come out on top of the scores.
