Thin tires pulled to fit wider rims are called "Hippari" and it is "in" right now who is into old school JDM. These cars are all late 70's ~80's Japanese domestic cars. That was the time when outlaw teenagers formed groups known as "Bousosuzoku" and got together on weekend nights (sometimes by the thousands) and just terrorized the city streets. These cars are modded in the typical style of the era. I grew up in Tokyo that time and as much as the pics made me blush they brought back some memories of riding in my friends Toyota Celica which was so LOW could not even fit a box of cigarets under the car... kennchan nihon ha dokokaradesuka?

Thank God they have enough sense to leave a good thing be with the MINIs....looking at some of those cars, I think I now know who made off with my libman dustpan last month.

 

Anyone want to guess how long before we see those TV antenna style exhaust pipes here in the States?

 

Sad to say, there are already people here in the states doing that kind of stuff...as well as the horrible intercooler setup (that may or may not be functional), strapped to the grill and going into the hood
