Drove an S2000 yesterday
So I got the chance to drive an S2000 around for a bit yesterday. I was really impressed. The MINI was still quicker off the line IMO, but once that S2000 hit about 5000 rpm it was gone. One thing that I really loved about it, is how well the seats hold you in, I felt like I was bolted to the car myself. I also liked how the S2000 sounded, no whining, just real, raw power. There's no traction control or anything on the S2000, and it being rear wheel drive I was a bit worried about having the back end slip out, but it was fine taking 90 degree corners at "MINI" speeds. The guy who owns the S2000 got to drive my MINI too and really liked it, he's trying to convince his girlfriend to get an MCS.
So anyone else have some opinions on the S2000? Anyone impressed like I was?

Last November, I actually had an offer to swap my '03 MCS for a '01 S2000; no money, just pink slip for pink slip. I turned it down for two reasons: 1) the MINI is my "practical" car, I don't need another roadster, and 2) I still find the MCS more of a blast to drive under normal street conditions that I do the S2000. Maybe if I worked at a racetrack and had to drive for a living I would have seen it differently.
Yeah there's definitely not much praticality in the S2000. The guy who's car I drove had to have another car to drive daily. The ability to be a daily driver is one of many things that sold me on it.
 I had 2 S2000's - at different times of course..
A 2000 - red and a 2002 Suzuka Blue. Total blast to drive!!! Comparing it to a MINI is like apples and oranges though.
Since we already have a MINI, I wanted to drive something different (drop top) and if the Cabrio wasn't coming into production, I'd probably get another one since we don't have to worry about practicality (more room) since we also have a Durango....
Sold the S2000 cause we moved across country and didn't want to mess with getting 4 vehicles to CA from VA.
So yes - I drive the gas hog now until the Cabrio arrives....

I love the s2000 myself. I am actually looking into buying a used one as my second car. I think that the prices will drop pretty fast when the new body style comes out. The problem is that I don't think that I could wait that long.

i was actually looking into getting a s2000 in the near future but i changed my mind to the mcs. the s2000 is a blast to drive and its got great power but it is just not a wonderful daily driver. it can be done of course but i just want something with a back seat for a change (i currently drive a 91 toyota mr2 turbo.) but the s2000 is a great car for sure...

Prior to settling on the SVT Lightning that I had, I was pondering an S2000. I wouldn't say that they really are faster off the line. They are when you first drive one, 'cause ya kinda have to get used to winding her up before taking off if you want a decent launch. But once you master it, it'll blow the doors of the MINI at all levels of speed/gears. They are real fun, and sleak looking. It was pretty close to settling on that, but I wanted more power. Having 450lbs of torque was more fun.
The torque levels between the MCS and the S2000 are very close with the MCS at 155lb and the S2000 at 153lb. It still attracts some attention from me, and maybe possibly one day I'll add the S2000 to my list. I've seen a lot of nice S2000s done up the right way. Larger aftermarket support for Hondas. But then again, I've seen my share of nastily modded S2000s as well. Kids and their money.
Cheers,

Cheers,
The S2k is still on my favorite cars of all-time list. Between the glove-fit cockpit, predictable handling, absolutly perfect human interface controls (steering and shifter, oh that shifter!), and stunning yet classic styling, the S2000 is an amazing driving experience.
man, I love that car. Did a quick 0-65mph from a stop while entering
the expressway vs my MCS and it pulled neck and neck. I have just
i/e unichip. The 5K rpm vtec is great....but my MCS with unichip feels
like it's got vtec too.
Anyway, Honda's are a pure enjoyment to drive. I'd like to get their
S2000 coupe version (hardtop) if they ever come out with one. Im not
a convertible type.

i had the chance to drive a s2000 and a bmw m roadster. First i drove the s2000 and was pretty impressed w/ the 9,000 redline hehe, but then i got into the m roadster and was totally impressed w/ the pull that car has, i would take a m roadster any day over it. I think it looks better also.
